If Danny was Reagan’s only screen, Boston Blue wouldn’t work properly.
Of course, blue blood derivatives cannot keep the entire family together. Otherwise, it will be just Blue Blood 2.0 (also expensive, beating the purpose of transferring to derivatives).
Still, Danny can do this program without any family relationships, which will insult everything that makes Blue Blood my favorite show. Fortunately, Boston Blue can use other experiences in a number of ways.
1. Video chat can replace Reagan’s family dinner
The easiest way to include various Reagans is through video chat. Yes, even Henry might be angry at the idea that he couldn’t manage in his 80s.
Boston Blue may include a scene at the end of each episode, which allows us to taste the Reagan family intimacy without a full dinner scene (sorry, bad pun).
Danny can end up by calling one of his family back to New York. That way, the show will use Reagan only at a time and spin the plot to save money.
This will not work when they are all in New York. Frank will never allow it, and it will ruin the show’s close-knit family feel.
However, Danny is in a new city, so he often calls his family and they won’t be together all the time.
Additionally, we can easily imagine Danny calling other family members in an episode that doesn’t appear.
2. Give Frank the recurring roles of consultant to Danny and Boston Commissioner
If Frank stuffs his nose into the case from a distance, it will drive Danny away.
He was angry and the entire Reagans discussed how to cancel Danny’s reward without consulting him.
However, that’s why this would be one of the best ways Boston Blue can use other Reagans.
Frank and Danny Now that Danny has moved away, Frank and Danny may feel their path in a new phase of their relationship, part of which may include Frank’s attempt to use his connections to help Danny and interfere with Danny in unpopular ways.
It is not unrealistic for Frank to know the Boston Police Commissioner. He can start things by reaching out to help Danny get a new job, which can seriously annoy Danny.
3. Jamie or Joe’s case may take them to Boston
Both Jamie and Joe work in the department that sometimes joins the Boston PD case.
Joe is engaged in narcotics, which means he is easily involved in destruction of drug surgeries across a state, and Jamie’s undercover work can also take him to Boston.
As long as Boston Blue does this in a realistic way, this will be one of the best ways Boston Blue can use other experiences.
These guys can be intentional or because something happened in Boston, mixing business with home visits.
It will be a neat twist on how the family story works on the original blue blood.
4. Sean settles in Boston
Most of the ways Boston Blue can use other experiences involve them making cameo performances.
However, Sean is a character that can be used as a regular one, assuming Andrew Terraciano is interested.
In Blue Bloods Season 14 Episode 17, Sean reveals that he is graduating early—he has no idea what he wants to do after graduating from college.
This gave him a logical reason for being in Boston: he worked there or attended graduate school.
Sean may be living alone for the first time, which will bring an interesting twist to Danny’s dynamics, especially if he believes Danny works on a PD in Boston, so he can follow Sean.
5. Henry can decide to live with Danny instead of Frank
Although Henry is primarily a support character on Blue Blood, he sometimes tells stories, tries to help the police somehow, or gets his grandson (especially Jamie) to think he is a faint old man, while his mind is as always.
So it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for Henry to ask for a move to Boston (if it wasn’t for inviting himself to be with Danny).
It would be a new adventure, and if Danny doesn’t want to, because he doesn’t have enough time to “care” his grandfather, Henry will argue that he is the one who needs to take care of Danny.
Once Henry moved in, he could continue to provide Danny with his well-known advice and support.
Maybe once he settles, he will even find his new love.
Now that’s very interesting!
6. Erin visits occasionally because Jack allegedly has family in the area
Erin occasionally “falls in Danny” as her visit to Jack’s family in Boston is typical.
If Danny had no Jack in these improvisational visits, she might be suspicious of it. Why is she really there, Jack even has family in Boston?
This will be one of the best ways Boston Blue has used other experiences as this will allow Erin to carry out ongoing storylines on incomplete-time shows.
This will also add some mystery to whether she and Jack are still performing well or whether they are troubles in heaven.
7. When Jamie and Eddie’s children were named, Boston Blue has a special plot
Blue Bloods teased Jamie and Eddie’s kids on the series finale, and even offered an expiration date on June 13.
Danny will never miss the christening, which will give us some much-needed Reagan family time.
Ideally, this feels like a crossover of blue blood, although it may be impossible due to the cost.
If Danny can’t hang out with all the relatives in New York City, he should at least have one-on-one time with Jamie, Eddie and the baby – even if he has to almost have to attend a baptism.
If Boston Blue can find the budget to send Danny to New York, he might try to balance his family time with working in a big Boston case or find himself in the middle of a New York case.
This is consistent with the Blue Blood tradition that makes the family important situations without forgetting that it is the police procedure.
