    • Google Vids is now integrated into Slides with AI-powered video tools.
    • You can turn presentations into polished videos with editing, scripts, and voiceovers.
    • The existing recording option remains, with Vids rolling out to Workspace users.

Google introduced several Workspace upgrades in March, and Slides was among the apps that got these Gemini-powered drafting and editing tools. With Gemini in Slides, you could finally create fully editable slides, edit collaboratively, and even generate entire presentations. Now, Google is taking things a notch higher with its latest Slides integration.

In a blog post, Google has confirmed that Google Vids in Slides is rolling out, allowing users to access the video editing tool within Slides. While Slides already has a recording option, Google Vids integration adds the magic of Gemini to the right-hand menu. With a click of a button, you’ll be able to record your workflow, and when done, the tool will generate a shareable link.

The integration introduces transcript-based editing and voiceover generation, making it possible to turn simple slide decks into polished, professional video assets within seconds.

Google is not taking away the legacy recording option, at least not for now. You will still be able to access it in the View menu (View > Slides Recording) along with the new Google Vids recording option. This should give Slides users ample time to transition rather than force them to migrate to something they may not immediately appreciate.

Would you use Google Vids in Slides to turn presentations into videos?

But once you do, Google Vids quickly grows on you. It’s arguably the best consumer AI video creation tool you’ll find today, and it keeps getting better. You can create short eight-second videos for Instagram Reels or generate multiple clips in parallel. Vids also lets you convert any Google Slides deck with a click, storyboard the content, draft a script, and even insert an AI narrator for you. Google also made it possible to create or edit videos with natural language prompts via the recent Gemini Omni integration.

Slides users previously had to export files from Google Drive or record their screen with an app like OBS to turn presentations into videos. But now that these AI superpowers are directly baked into Slides, they should save you time by taking over the process.

The new Vids in Slides integration is rolling out to all Workspace users, including individual subscribers, and personal Google accounts. The rollout began on August 20 for Rapid Release domains, with Scheduled Release domains set for September 7.
