2024 production Plan B It feels like Hallmark “wants to be,” but it’s still a little short of that lofty goal. There is definitely a romantic element and an underlying comedic bent.
but.
The problem with this movie is that none of the characters are likable. No matter how hard I tried, it was nearly impossible to connect with this diverse group of people.
Is it interesting?
Yes. But not in an entirely satisfying way.

story
Piper Brennan, a good-time girl and Evan Ebert’s neighbor, comes home covered in bruises. She had “protected” sex with Evan. This can lead to pregnancy. After getting sober, Piper realized she needed to find a better “baby daddy.”
main actors
Jamie Lee stars as Piper. A creator with a possible book deal and a woman with no real plans for a long-term relationship. She definitely doesn’t want to be “mom.”
Jon Heder plays Alvin. A bland young man who seemed to lack anything resembling a personality. This is not a guy a girl wants to take home to her mom.
Subha Agarwal is a Mayan. She was Piper’s long-suffering best friend. She can be seen as a cross between Jiminy Cricket and a guardian angel.
Michael Lombardi is Graham. Piper “settled” to be her unsuspecting baby daddy.
great cameo
These are called “The Great Cameos” because the stars who appear here bring their best performances to this quirky romantic comedy. At no time do these seem tacky or sub-par. They really are the characters they play in this movie. Plan B Possibly the best guest list ever.
Tom Berenger is Graham’s father, Joe. White teeth, perfectly groomed hair and a permanently sunburned face. He is a “trophy” father.
Shannon Elizabeth plays Anne, Graham’s charming boss. One woman seemed to be looking forward to the young father. Cheesecake anyone?
Kate Flannery is Jane. The publisher liked Piper immediately. She saw great things in this new creator.
Daniel K. Isaac plays Travis. Ramese’s pairing could make Alvin and his band the next big thing.
behind the scenes
Co-writer-director Brandon Tamburi *who co-wrote the screenplay with Jean S. Monpère* gives us a story with characters that are hard to relate to . They all seem superficial and self-centered. Although Evan and Maya are the exceptions here. The rest is just, annoying.
*This may just be me showing my age. I really found it difficult to connect with any of the characters on offer.
storyline yes Interesting. Although the ending is already clear.
However.
Tamburi takes us on a journey where the main character; Piper, must grow. She must shed her overwhelming selfishness and boring personality. Along the way, though we may never truly like Her character, we get to know her gradually.
It helps.
She did change.
meditation
Despite not touching on Jamie Lee, the film does offer some old-timer favorites. Tom Berenger has always been a “favorite.” Berenger proved in 1985’s “Rhapsody” that he could deliver comedy as straight as a string. Jon Hyde, who would always For me, Napoleon Dynamite is always worth the money. Shannon Elizabeth is another actor who always delivers a stellar performance.
The film was shot digitally. It shows. But, that being said, it fits the theme. Modern and technologically advanced, but unsatisfactory compared to celluloid.
judgment
Although the protagonist has problems, there is no problem with the ranking Plan B Rated 3 out of 5 stars. This movie does what it says on the label. This is a romance film and a comedy. The movie will be released on September 27, 2024.
