Gasgoo Munich- Surventis, formerly BASF’s coatings division, has signed a strategic development and cooperation agreement with AUMOVIO Group. The partners aim to pool rered optical films in vehicles, targeting innovative solutions for in-vehicle displays and head-up displays (HUD) for a global clientele

With the rise of electric and autonomous driving, high-end displays are taking center stage as the core interface between driver and vehicle. Consequently, demand for high-performance yet cost-effective optical components is climbing. This partnership answers that call, leveraging advanced optical film technology to upgrade next-generation automotive user experience (UX) systems.

Surventis brings unique expertise to the design and manufacturing of micro-structured optical films, blending deep knowledge of materials science and optics with industry-leading nanoimprint technology. By leveraging scalable roll-to-roll nanoimprint processes, the company can replicate complex optical micro- and nano-structures on large substrates with high precision. This capability allows for the production of next-generation optical films that offer significantly improved performance, functionality, and design freedom—key components for forward-looking UX systems.

AUMOVIO, meanwhile, demonstrates strong capabilities in developing high-end in-vehicle displays and HUD solutions. Backed by deep experience in automotive system integration, the company can seamlessly integrate Surventis’s technology into cockpit environments that meet industry standards and OEM requirements, ensuring both feasibility and reliability.

The partners have already mapped out specific development steps and preliminary industrialization milestones, providing a clear roadmap for implementation. This deep integration of capabilities is expected to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative solutions in future vehicle programs.

As a forward-looking alternative to traditional optical components, optical films optimize light distribution and enhance display readability. They also support scalable, cost-effective manufacturing while adding new functions to display and projection systems. For automakers, this translates to greater flexibility and room for innovation in user interface design and visual system performance.
