A 707 passenger plane was hijacked by Lebanese terrorists on its way from Athens to Rome and then to New York, and the terrorists asked the pilot to take it to Beirut. What the terrorists don’t realize is that an elite commando team has been called in to eliminate all terrorists on the plane.

Movie review:
- John Child: Delta Damage!
- “Delta Force” is directed by Menahem Golam, who co-wrote the script with James Bruner. The film stars Chuck Norris, Lee Marvin, Joey Bishop, Robert Forster, George Kennedy, Robert Vaughn and Shelley Winters. Music is by Alan Silvestri and photography is by David Gurfinkel.
- The film is a very loose take on the real-life TWA Athens hijacking in 1985, done in pure fantasy Hollywood style. This would be tough guy actor Lee Marvin’s final film before his tragic death a year later, and unfortunately it wasn’t a fitting swan song for him. All the elements are there: a star-studded cast led by an 1980s action movie star, and a topical story filled with serious drama and thrills. Sadly, the picture doesn’t deliver on the substance of its promise.
- However, if you’re an action movie fan who isn’t a fan of political correctness, sloganeering, and overt flag waving, there’s plenty to enjoy here. Politics aside (hahaha), this is a Norris cartoonist and Marv getting his last decent payday. The action is well put together and everything is crazy and glorious, even more so when Norris is at the front. Whether you’re kicking ass with your bare hands or indulging in motorcycle mayhem (rocket launchers, oh my!), it’s a ton of fun.
- Yes! There’s plenty of cheese, especially as the human drama of the first hour gives way to macho predation, while Silvestri’s score is irritatingly catchy – and sounds more like is the voice of a 80’s Brat Pack movie – you can’t help but find it irritating that almost all the big names in the supporting cast are sorely wasted! It’s also sad to see a frail Marvin, ravaged by years of nicotine and alcohol, that’s not how we want to remember him, so it’s our responsibility not to.
- Forgive its shortcomings, though, and embrace the exciting corn, because there are still good times here. The premise is that you are interested in this type of movie from the beginning! 6/10
- Chandler Daniel: There were a lot of stunts in it. Lots of wheels. Very nice features are the shoulder rope as an accessory and the knotted rope to get into hard to reach areas. That’s the best stunt. It looks like the wheel stunts are just for show and aren’t even that good. My friends can do stunts when they grow up. He’s really good at stunts though.
- The way people behave, it’s fun to imagine them in the military sometimes. Those running around in the water don’t look professional, let alone elite. Its sincerity is captivating. They really believe in this project. A bit long.
- Yes, yes. Radio Canada.
