Samuel Jackson Known for playing bad guys, first associated with Quentin Tarantino’s films, and now for the past sixteen years, he’s played Nick Fury, founder of the Avengers and former leader of S.H.I.E.L.D. Rui.
He first appears in the role in a post-credits scene iron man (2008), it was impossible for anyone, including Jackson, to know what was going on. So when the actor was asked to sign a nine-movie deal, he was overwhelmed by the idea.
In a recent interview with GQ (via Variety ), Jackson said: “I know I have a nine-picture deal. [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] Say, “We’re going to give you a deal on nine movies.”
“How long do you have to live to make nine movies? It’s not the fastest process in the world. I didn’t know they were going to make nine movies in two and a half years. It’s kind of crazy! Gee, my contract is running out. It worked.
No one could have predicted how quickly we would see the first phase of Marvel characters come to an end. But it was certainly a success for Jackson, who previously told the Los Angeles Times that he never lost interest in the character of Nick Fury and that he would rather make billion-dollar Marvel movies than win an Oscar Award-winning or Oscar-chasing roles.
“Even though I was tired of it, you know, I would think, ‘Well, I should have won an Oscar for this, or should have won that, but it didn’t happen,’ and I got over it many years ago, and it was No big deal to me.
“I always have fun going to the Oscars. I always look forward to getting a gift basket for the speakers. I give stuff to my relatives; my daughter and my wife will bring stuff out. It’s cool. … But other than that, I’m over it.
Jackson added: “I will never let an Oscar be the measure of my success or failure as an actor. My measure of success is my happiness: Am I happy with what I’m doing? I don’t make movies about chasing statues. . You know: “If you make this movie, you’re going to win an Oscar. “No, thank you. I’d rather be Nick Fury. Or have a lightsaber in my hand and be Mace Windu and have fun.”
Jackson is beloved and has given us many incredible performances. He was out having fun and not worrying about statues, which was cool. Plus you know he’s making as much money as he deserves.
Samuel L. Jackson can next be seen in Westerns unholy trinityas well as sci-fi comedy afterburn. These are in post-production but no release date has been set yet.
