Sorry, Ripley fans. This Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 review is going to be tough for him.
He spends most of his time trying to sacrifice his career to protect Scully, but when Asher refuses, he berates her.
Yes, Scully is dying, but how does it help that Ripley goes to jail in his place? This nonsense is more proof that this story should be dead.
It’s hard to care if Ripley’s career is in jeopardy
This Story Hurts Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 Review Scores
Ripley’s career is in jeopardy, but Ripley doesn’t seem to care that much, which makes it hard for me to care, too.
The whole Pavel story is weak. The reason Ripley is fighting is because the guy is a compulsive liar who talks too much crap and then settles down once things get tough.
He then decided to take responsibility for Scully beating Pawel because he was loyal to his oldest friend.
I understood it all intellectually, and it felt like the perfect setup for a powerful story, but the way I felt about it was… nothing.
I’m not invested in anything else I cheered to see this tired story filled with tired TV tropes sooner rather than later When Hannah realizes that risking Ripley’s wrath is the right thing to do, she continues.
Of course, this uninteresting story will likely lead to a huge rift between Ripley and Hannah for the sake of drama.
Hannah could do better than him. She should walk away forever with her head held high.
She did the right thing. Ripley is an idiot who did his best Brady Black impression on Days of Our Lives.
What does she need from him?
There are many more interesting stories than this one, so if the writers can do whatever they can to bring it to an end, I’ll be forever grateful.
Both Charles and Frost faced ethical dilemmas regarding secrecy
HIPAA is not always as simple as it seems
Both Charles’ and Frost’s stories raise the same question: When is it appropriate to keep a secret from someone involved with a serious health problem?
In Charles’ case, he told the husband of a schizophrenic patient that his wife had stopped taking her medication and might be in trouble.
I’m not sure if this crosses a line of privacy, but what else should Charles have done to save that woman’s life?
In fact, neither she nor her husband listened to Dr. Charles, which almost resulted in the unnecessary death of the woman and her child.
By the end, the woman’s life still hangs in the balance, and Arthur must perform a surgery she’s never directly performed before and hope it buys enough time to save the patient’s life.
Maggie: When was the last time you did any of these things?
Arthur: I saw one in medical school.
Maggie: Medicine –
Arthur: We have no other choice.
So Charles clearly did the right thing by talking to the woman’s husband, and I’m glad he was there to comfort that man when all was said and done.
Frost’s decision was made more difficult, and it didn’t help that Archer and Lennox gave him conflicting advice.
Archer suggested this partly because he wanted to piss off Lennox, which seemed irresponsible. Sorry, Archer, but you lost points in your review of Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 for something as trivial as this.
However, the patient was less than five years old.
In the long run, believing he’ll go into remission and get back to playing football while he’s paralyzed for the short time he has left will hurt him even more.
This story illustrates how difficult it is to care for teenagers.
Technically, Max was a minor, so it was up to his parents to consent to the surgery and decide what to tell him about his condition.
However, he’s old enough to understand what’s going on and make decisions for himself, which makes his parents’ decision to hide the truth feel as wrong as Frank’s desire for doctors to withhold Henry’s diagnosis in “Blue Bloods.”
Did Archer and Lennox really come to an understanding?
Archer’s initial idea was a bit silly, but he learned his lesson
I was going to spend some time lambasting Archer in my review of Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2, but I’m glad I was wrong.
Archer’s decision was a great plot twist. The overlap between trauma and emergency medicine should be obvious from the outset, but it is better late than never.
Lenox: I guess I should be thankful that it only took you one shift to realize that.
While Lennox may be annoyed by all the cross-outs and comments in her report, she should consider it a peace offering.
Archer took the time to read her report and gave her half a compliment along with a lot of red ink, which was a huge improvement over his previous refusal to consider Lennox’s idea.
Behavior like this is why I would never want to hang out with Archer in real life, but within the context of the show, it’s a huge step forward.
Random Thoughts on Chicago Med Season 10 Episode 2 Review
- Marci Miller plays another person with severe mental illness, which is an interesting comparison to her performance as Abigail on Days of Our Lives
- Sharon’s anger towards Charles annoyed me. She should know that past violence does not always mean bad behavior in the present.
- As expected, Sharon fired most of the random people who were not a real part of the show. The storyline would be more fleshed out if any important characters were fired.
- Is layoffs the real reason why the club fired Zak?
