director Paul Fitch Recently reflecting on his 2016 reboot Ghostbusters and the negative reactions it encountered.

When the film was first announced, fans learned that it wouldn’t take place in the same universe as the original film and that none of the iconic members of the original team would be returning, and unsurprisingly, there was a lot of backlash.

As a huge fan of the original film, I’m definitely not happy with the direction. But the fact that the new team will be made up exclusively of women has a bunch of other fans furious.

To me, the idea of just rebooting the series with a whole new set of characters just doesn’t feel right. I mean, you can’t reboot a classic movie Ghostbusters! That’s what makes my blood boil.

After watching this movie, I thought the story was weak, the jokes were boring, the cameos were pointless, and the ending was terrible. But at the same time, my kids loved it at the time.

In an interview with The Guardian , Feige reflected on the film’s release. When asked why he decided to make a film without original characters, he said:

“bill [Murray] He publicly stated that he did not want to make another “Ghostbusters” at the time. Harold Ramis is dead. bear [Aykroyd] and ernie [Hudson] There, but half the team felt weird. Thirty years on, Bill and his pals have become iconic. I didn’t want to do anything to hurt the original film.

He went on to talk about the politics of the time, saying: “The political climate was really weird at the time, with Hillary running for office in 2016, and there were a lot of guys who wanted to fight.

“When I get trolled on Twitter, I go back and see who they are. A lot of people are Trump supporters. And then Trump comes out against us. They’re doing it without Harrison Ford,” he said. Next Reinventing Indiana Jones. “You can’t do that. Now they’re making Ghostbusters with only women. What’s going on? And getting upset.”

“Everyone has gone [frick]ing cannibal. It turns the movie into a political statement, as if to say, “If you support women, you’re going to see this.” If you’re not, then… I don’t think it matters at all that the main character is a woman, but people take Comes with a lot of baggage.

Whether you agree with Feige or not, it’s hard to argue that the film faced disadvantages from the start.

That being said, the latest Ghostbusters movie, Ghostbusters: Frozen EmpireRelated to the original universe, it also ended up being a huge letdown. A weak story is a weak story.
