Mary Catherine Kinney has been named executive vice president of artist and label strategy at Republic Corps.

The news was released on Thursday (October 3) by Legion of the Republic President and Chief Operating Officer Jim Lobo.

Based in Nashville, Kinney will support artist and label strategies for Republic Corp Collective, which includes Republic Records, Island Records, Mercury Records and Def Jam Recordings.

She also leads business strategy for the group’s brands.

Prior to joining Republic, Kinney served as head of artist partnerships at Spotify, joining the company in 2018 and previously held positions at Sony Music Nashville and Universal Music Group Nashville.

While leading artist partnerships at Spotify, she founded and led teams responsible for artist and manager relations and genre marketing initiatives.

Their projects include collaborations with Taylor Swift, Karol G and Zach Bryan, as well as introducing Spotify’s “Billions Club” series, “Casa Spotify” in Puerto Rico and “Spotify House” at CMA Fest.

Prior to being promoted to Director of Artist Partnerships, Kinney served as Director of Strategic Music Partnerships and Manager of Artist and Label Partnerships.

While at Sony Music Nashville, she was promoted to Director of Publicity. In this role, she worked with country superstars such as Luke Combs, Kane Brown, Maren Morris and more.

Kinney began her music career in 2011 at Capitol Records in Nashville and later joined Universal Music Group in Nashville where she worked in marketing and publicity.

“Her reputation and work ethic allow her to thrive with the support of REPUBLIC’s brand.”
