John Malkovich is one of Hollywood’s established actors, and he is now set to receive an honour at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
He will get the Outstanding Performer of the Year Award for his performance as the FBI agent in Martin McDonagh’s Wild Horse Nine.
Roger Durling, the exec of SBIFF, said, “A legendary actor gives this year in Wild Horse Nine his best performance to date, in which he combines pathos, volatility, vulnerability and tenderness.”
“It’s a high wire act that shows us what a commanding artist he is, and we are thrilled to be honoring him with our Outstanding Performer of the Year Award.”
On the other hand, Malkovich’s Wild Horse Nine is already screened at multiple film festivals, including Telluride and Toronto.
At Venice Film Festival, the Red star even won the Best Actor award for his portrayal of an FBI agent.
Meanwhule, Wild Horse Nine’s official logline, reads, “Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris and Lee are dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief, MJ.”
“Amongst the Island’s iconic statues, and as the longtime partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies, Chris’s newfound bond with a pair of rebellious students threatens to send everyone’s trust to this remote island paradise sideways.”
Wild Horse Nine’s in theatres on Nov. 6.
