The Hubert Bals Fund (HBF) announces three projects awarded €60,000 each through its HBF+Europe: Post-production Support scheme. The Creative Europe MEDIA-backed scheme supports European minority co-producers with films from HBF territories at the final stage of production.
This selection features projects by filmmakers from Argentina, India and Brazil, distinct in form, ambition and scale: a creative <a href="https://cinemamix360.com/2026/10/01/gaza-documentary-naza-beats-avengers-endgame-encore-to-top-italian-box-office/” title=”Gaza documentary NAZA beats Avengers Endgame: Encore to top Italian box office”>documentary set in a dystopian future, a love story in India’s Kinnar community and a tragicomic detective story in a sweltering Rio de Janeiro.
Earlier this year, HBF+Europe: Post-production Supported Variations on a Theme won the Tiger Award at IFFR 2026 and is now South Africa’s submission to the Oscars for Best International Feature.
“Encouraging more equal and balanced international cooperation”
“We’re pleased to see HBF+Europe: Post-production Support establishing itself as a meaningful pathway for European producers to join bold films from HBF territories at the crucial stage of completion,” says Tamara Tatishvili, Head of the Hubert Bals Fund. “It allows us to keep supporting talent from the regions at the heart of the HBF’s mission, while encouraging more equal and balanced international cooperation, especially with European low-production capacity countries such as Portugal from the current selection.”

After being rejected by her lover, Kohinoor, a trans woman, sets out to find her sister, who went missing when Kohinoor was a child: a story about love, loss, friendship and community in which Kohinoor overcomes the powerful ghosts of her past. Bhargava’s debut Dust (2019) premiered at the Berlinale. Kohinoor was most recently presented at When East Meets West 2026.
