Tonight’s episode irrational Start right where last season left off. Alec was waiting for Rose in the restaurant, but she never showed up and no message was sent to her. The call also went directly to voicemail, much to Alec’s concern. He went to her place and discovered that her car was also missing, prompting him to call Marissa to tell her that Ross was missing.
Monitor footage shows Rose being taken away; confirming Alec’s fears. He joins the FBI in trying to figure out who’s behind it, and whether her ties to MI6 might be the reason. Marissa wants to sideline Alec and tell him he’s too closely involved with the case, but he refuses to do so. Kelly and Marissa assured him that Rose was not a damsel in distress and that he shouldn’t worry. “Why risk kidnapping one of the world’s leading abduction experts?” – Good question, Alec.

Marissa, Alec, and the FBI team arrive at the scene of Ross’s last investigation. They concluded that two vehicles were there, meaning Rose may have been moved. An item was left containing Rose’s ring, but the fingerprints on the jar were not hers. Turns out they belonged to Calvin Ellis. When he was brought in for questioning, Marissa tried to get him to talk, but he wouldn’t budge. Now it’s Alec’s turn to do what he does best; change mindsets(didn’t take long). Calvin just started talking (Wow, talk about a weak link.). He even revealed that Ross wasn’t the only one taken away.
Ross’s former colleague Harry is also kidnapped and he is the reason they are looking for Ross. We found out that Harry had written a book, My Life in MI6, and I couldn’t help but laugh, because, Harry, you might as well put out an ad saying, “I Could Kill Someone You Love, Come on.” Come to me,” and judging by what’s happening right now, that’s exactly what’s happening. That’s why Gavin follows them.

Details in Harry’s novel hint at his involvement in the death of Gavin’s wife Fiona, and now what? He is here for revenge. But Harry was a mess; why bring Rose in? He doesn’t know much and thinks throwing Rose under the bus is the best solution? It made as much sense as writing his book. When Rose tells Gavin everything she knows, he confirms that this is what Harry said, and this is what Harry knows, which means, he is no longer needed, and BAM! Gavin takes him out (This is why we don’t write books about secret missions, Harry).
While Alec is talking to his student Rizwan about a theory about revenge he has asked him to test, he notices a suspicious van and soon realizes that he is about to be taken away. Knowing this, I imagine he would try to run away from them, but no, he believed that letting them take him was his best chance of finding Rose. He tells Rizwan to let Marissa know what will happen next. Mission accomplished: Alec is captured. Gavin threatens to kill Alec if Ross doesn’t answer his questions. She’s really playing a dangerous game here; her idea is to take responsibility and kill herself. No, ma’am –

The FBI was able to obtain Gavin’s phone number, but because the phone was turned off, they were unable to trace it. Marissa hoped Alec would turn on his phone because she knew it was their only chance to be found and possibly make it out of this alive. Of course he can do that; he convinced Gavin Ross that he should confess and that he should record it (Bingo! Phone is on). At the beginning of the episode, Alec discusses the “hot state” with his students, and how it’s easy to make mistakes and be careless when in a hot state. That’s what we see with Gavin; he slips, driven by feelings of revenge for what MI6 (and specifically Rose) did to his wife. Ross does a good job of dragging out the story long enough for the FBI to track them down and take Gavin away.
This had the potential to end badly, but luckily, that’s not the case here. Since Rose is now red-eyeing work, I wonder if this will affect her progress at work, but most importantly her relationship with Alec.
