TI says he’s retiring — at least not from acting anymore.
The King of the South and Young Dro joined host Ferrari Simmons and BT on 96.1 The Beat’s afternoon show “Rari at 2” and mentioned the station’s annual Jingle Ball holiday concert in Atlanta on Dec. 19. TI stars alongside Sexy Red, T-Pain, Saweetie, The Kid Laroi, Khalid and Tinashe, but this will likely be his last performance.
“I thank you for giving me one last chance to work because I don’t need the money anymore and I won’t be performing anymore,” he told the room. “I don’t want to do this anymore. … I don’t want anyone to pay me to jump around and sweat for their entertainment anymore.
The younger Dro then hilariously added that he would take the job that TI turned down. “I picked up all the shows that Tipu wasn’t going to pick up. I did them all.
Ferrari then asked if he planned to “do” something for another upcoming show, to which Tip replied: “Of course, I’ll get on the phone and tell them I won’t be performing.” He did say, however, that he would perform again — but only on his terms.
T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, recently won a $71 million lawsuit accusing toymaker MGA of stealing designs for a line of “OMG” dolls from real-life teen pop band OMG Girlz. The now-defunct pop group was founded by Tiny and included her daughter Zonnique “Star” Pullins. So maybe that had something to do with his decision.
He may also be retiring soon as far as rap is concerned. Last October, when asked what fans could expect from the Atlanta rap legend’s music, he told We’re in Miami Podcast He plans to release a album titled kill king and kiss the king This will be his last album. He also mentioned that one of the first singles will be a collaboration with NBA YoungBoy. The track is titled “LLOGCLAY” and was released in early May this year.
