A British YouTuber and rapper named Yung Filly has been accused of raping and strangling a woman to death in a hotel room after an Australian music show.
The 29-year-old, whose real name is Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, appeared in court on Thursday (October 10) on a number of charges in the West Coast He appeared at a court in the city of Perth and was granted bail.
His bail conditions include that he remain in Western Australia, not contact his alleged victims and not post information about the case on social media.
He was ordered to surrender his passport and report to police daily. His guarantee is set at A$100,000 ($67,400).
Prosecutors opposed bail because he was a risk of fleeing the state.
His attorney, Seamus Rafferty, did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
Barrientos, who is currently touring Australia, was arrested in the east coast city of Brisbane on Tuesday, a police statement said. The Colombian-born entertainer, who has 1.8 million followers on YouTube, was extradited to Perth on Wednesday.
His Australian tour started in Perth, traveled to Melbourne and Sydney, and was scheduled to end in Brisbane.
Police allege he attacked a woman in her 20s in a hotel room after performing at a Perth nightclub.
His show at Bar1 Nightclub was promoted by ticket sales platform MoshTix as “a perfect blend of spontaneity, humor and music that will keep you gushing for weeks!”
He was charged with four counts of rape, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of impeding normal breathing or blood circulation by applying pressure to a woman’s neck, police said.
Barrientos started his YouTube career in 2013 and his music career in 2017.
He won the MOBO Award 2021 in the Best Media Personality category, an annual British music awards ceremony that recognizes achievements in “music of black origin”.
