Victor has come a long way from the man we met in season one.

Victor is a bit of a loner with a sad history, but he has evolved over time. Just when he’s ready to face his past and start investigating a piece of history he no longer remembers, he’s thrown into trouble; his father is in town.

Victor and Henry’s reunion in the fifth episode of season three was incredibly touching. Both thought they would never experience such a hug again.

Scott McCord infuses Victor with such warmth and depth that we jumped at the chance to discuss the father-son reunion and Victor’s complicated feelings.

McCord couldn’t be happier, and his comments about fan-favorite Victor were heartfelt.

Enjoy this piece from a fanatic!

The final episode was devastating in so many ways. Henry’s arrival in town is an exciting time for Victor.

Can you describe Victor’s emotions when he learned that he would be reunited with his father after many years?

    (MGM+/Chris Reardon)

Yeah yeah. I’d love to talk about it. This was certainly something I didn’t expect to happen. Of course, we never know what happened in the script, and we never know what the milestone events of the season will be.

When they introduced Henry, I thought, oh, yeah, this is exciting. And then when I found out in episode four that he was coming into town and they were going to meet, well, it really stirred up all kinds of emotions in me.

I thought it was beautiful, but as an actor I was scared because I thought, “What would that look like?”

I think for Victor, what immediately comes to mind is this thought, or should I say this feeling, which I think Victor has had this season anyway, this thought is I did this Everything? At some point, especially with Henry’s arrival, I started thinking, how did I let him down? Did I let him down?

My mother is gone, my sister is gone. In that moment with Henry, when Victor says, “I don’t know how to get home,” I think there’s tremendous guilt in that.

This is something that Henry is moving forward with in their relationship, as they try to figure out what’s going on between them. It’s like he’s figuring out his own way as a father, and what does that mean now? How does Victor think we should deal with loss in this life?

For Victor, there’s an incredible feeling of guilt, but also because of Victor’s purpose in solving this, going into his memory, trying to remember. I think a lot of it was also about saving his father and now making up for a lifetime of loss.

You just answered part of my next question. Where will the future go for Henry and Victor? I think it would also be interesting and difficult for Victor to play the role of a son again and have his family around him.

Yes, this is also the work of Robert Joy, who plays Henry. I mean, he’s beautiful. He was one of the most wonderful, generous actors and wonderful people.

We talked about it a lot, and as the story progressed and Victor was on his path again, where were those moments? Do they have time?

    Victor Considers - Season 2 Episode 7Victor Considers - Season 2 Episode 7
    (MGM+/Chris Reardon)

What moments were there between them, even just a simple look or touch, where they were trying to figure out how I could be a son, how I could be a father? The entire season has been a beautiful exploration.

These are all good questions. This is an important part of the story and an important part of this year’s work.

What do you think you’ve learned from Victor this season that you didn’t know in season one?

When you asked this question, something immediately came to mind that I didn’t actually think about too much.

But I think one of the discoveries that I remember making and feeling, and this ties into what we were just talking about with Henry, is that with Victor, there’s definitely a kind of regression that happens in dealing with this trauma and memory.

But when that happens, I think when people start to really break down, something changes.

Even if it was just finding out and remembering that he had a sister. What was he thinking about before? What will this do to him?

I’m starting to feel like this season, Victor is suddenly growing up a little bit, rising up a little bit, and taking charge.

We see, or I hope there is, I see, all of a sudden, a slightly more mature Victor emerging in some moments in terms of dealing with everything and dealing with his father.

So, I want to answer your question briefly, I think what excites me is that Victor does change in some ways. I also noticed that while for him everything had been inward, inward, inward for a long time, as we’re seeing in these episodes coming up now, he’s starting to act outward.

    Victor Outside - Season 2 Episode 5Victor Outside - Season 2 Episode 5
    (MGM+/Chris Reardon)

It starts happening outward. He’s starting to channel his energy in that not-so-good way, so that’s new as well.

One of the greatest strengths of FROM is its cast. You have a really strong and dynamic cast. I actually really like Victor and Sara. This is a very interesting dynamic. What did you like about the interaction between Victor and another character?

I’m glad you brought this up with Sara because Avery [Konrad] I had never worked together before, so that was the first scene we did together. She was amazing, and we laughed at each other, but the relationship we found, the dynamic we found, was so brother and sister.

There is safety in that fortress, and there are the little stumbling blocks they create together through trust and understanding. I also think about each other.

With Victor, even knowing who she is, I love the dynamic. I just feel like the relationship between these two people is very, very layered and what brings them together and trust each other in that way.

Victor and Sarah saw something in town in Season 3, Episode 5.Victor and Sarah saw something in town in Season 3, Episode 5.
    (Chris Reardon/MGM+)

But at the same time, I think the simplicity of it is really beautiful. It’s like it’s been there since the beginning.

He walks into the house and they have this connection, but I think part of it is that Victor even said, “I used to play in this house with my sister,” and there’s a history to this house and so on. This relationship excites me this season.

If you could give us one word to tease the back half of season three, what would it be?

I want to hyphen a single word.

Victor and Sara talk about the past in Season 3, Episode 5.Victor and Sara talk about the past in Season 3, Episode 5.
    (Chris Reardon/MGM+)

    OK

Two words. I was going to say broken, but I wanted to say broken.

    split?

Is this fair? Can I give it to you?

    Yes!

    Does that work?

That’s perfect. I like it. Thank you so much.
