Ab-Soul appears on DJ Hed and Gina Views’ SiriusXM show Effective immediatelytalking about his upcoming album over the weekend soul burger When the topic of J. Cole comes up.
Gina Vaius asked him when J. Cole dropped his Kendrick diss song “7 Minute Drill” and then his may be deleted later mixtape, which includes the song “Pi” featuring Carson rapper and battle rapper Daylit. Soulo admitted to being surprised that the song was on the mixtape and told a hilarious story about the day he found out the news.
“First of all, I’m a little upset with Cole – not upset, but… Cole was supposed to be in Get Out of My Face [FOMF],” he revealed. “Cole is a true friend. That’s what I want to say clearly to the world. I just need 12… I played him the album and he chose [FOMF] I bothered him about it because at the time I was trying to play the game and it wasn’t happening.
He continued, “But I co-sung this one – Lyt and I co-sung ‘Pi.’ I did it for Dalet. I said, ‘Let’s do this thing back and forth, it’s kind of like sparring. [session] The thing between me and him, it’s called “Pi”, literally because of me and Dailit [version] Ended at 3:14.
Adding, “I woke up — I don’t know if it was the next morning, but pretty soon — Lyt was like, ‘Bro,’ and sent me this song, and Cole was just going crazy right there. I said , ‘Wait, what’s going on? I’m low-key hot. I’m like, ‘Lyt, man, you gotta let me know first… I’m mad at him. , “Bro, you gotta let me know if you’re gonna give this thing away. He ate us at first, because it was like 48.” [bars] leave. Before we even mixed it, his voice was louder than ours. I woke up and my ears were fresh. I called Cole immediately.
He then mentioned that Cole told him that their verses inspired him. “Man, you guys are so crazy, I just got excited. My pen just started moving.” Ab added that he respects the Carolina rapper’s origins. “Cole really is a host host. I told him I wanted to play this game. Now it is understandable why he is more interested in “Pi” than “FOMF”. That says a lot about him. All he had to do was score 12 points. I gave him everything.
Soul said he didn’t want to be a rapper who liked to be outdone, and he told Cole they needed to record a proper track in the barroom.
Many believe Ab-Soul took a shot at Cole when he rapped on his recent song “Squeeze 1st 2,”Metasota warned me they wanted war/but actually they gave up like their wardrobe for half a week” and released the song after Cole dropped his song “Port Antonio,” in which he bowed to the “Big 3” beef. But those assumptions were debunked when TDE president Punch set the record straight on the X, tweeting: “I hate clarifying rumors, I usually let them fester and see how far they go, but on the Pi All of the verses were recorded long before Like That. Hip Hop DX Host Jeremy Hecht tweeted that Soul blamed Cole for not telling him “Pi” would be included in a project.
