Last year, Lionsgate announced big plans for the future of the festival John Wick franchise, it was reported at the time John Wick: Chapter 5 is being written, with multiple spin-offs in the works.
News comes directly from the chairman of Lionsgate Entertainment Group Joe Drake. So, I assume John Wick director Chad Stahelski There is a team in the studio working on it John Wick: Chapter 5but apparently this is not the case.
Stahelski provided an update in a recent interview with Business Insider: “When you fall in love, you fall in love. I fell in love with ‘John Wick.’ I fell in love with this Process and story.
“Keanu [Reeves] I both thought, if I woke up tomorrow and had a great idea, we would do it. You can bet.
So, it sounds like they don’t even have the idea to play yet. Stahelski continued: “If we felt like we didn’t cheat the fans and had more to give, I would do it tomorrow. I just don’t have it right now.”
He added: “The other things I’m working on are all great things that I’m excited about, but nothing compares to this.”
What’s interesting about these comments is that the director has previously stated that he and Reeves had John Wick A few days’ worth of movie ideas that he could spend the rest of his career making.
Stahelski later said he had indeed written down some ideas for the team’s future. In fact, he at least has an idea for the next five movies!
“I have notebooks and notebooks behind me, John Wicks5, 6, 7, 8, 9. We’ve had the idea for days. We just didn’t have the story locked down. I have no interest in grabbing money by bringing John Wick back to do something.
“Is he a character that I like? Of course. It would be great if I did a few John Wick movies. If we had a good story, Keanu would do it again in a heartbeat. We’ll keep it as Open ended. I know the studio will be happy for us to say we have another one.
So if he had an idea a few days ago, why is he now saying he doesn’t have any? If they don’t have an idea, they shouldn’t brag about an idea they don’t have.
Staleski’s next project is Highlander The reboot starring Henry Cavill is set to begin filming next year.
Next John Wick The upcoming movie will be a spin-off ballerinathe story takes place between the third and fourth movies. Ana de Armas The film stars a number of stars and will be released on June 6, 2025.
