Regardless of the role, Kathy Bates has a special pull on audiences. Matlock, it turns out, is no different. The actress continues to deliver one memorable episode after another.
It’s crazy to think this is only the third episode. Is it just me, or does it feel like this series has been around for ages? That must be the power of Kathy Bates’ performance.
Although “Matlock” is only three episodes old, Bates’ appearance has elevated the show to “must-see” status. This seems to have had an impact on her fellow cast members as well.
I swear everyone on this show does an amazing job. I don’t blame them either. It must have been intimidating to work with an icon and legend like Kathy Bates.
It turns out that the “three of you” team is a necessity for Matlock
One of the funniest parts of the episode was watching Sarah (Leah Lewis) lose her mind over Olympia’s comments. I know the second Olympia made Sarah angry because she was teasing her.
Did you know? Olympia is not wrong. Sarah is digging her own grave and sabotaging herself in order to impress the people she most wants to impress. This girl can’t see the forest for the trees.
To be fair, the writers couldn’t let Sarah win outright. Can you imagine how unbearable that would be for her? Sarah needed to gain some perspective before spending her day in the sun.
Billy (David Del Rio), on the other hand, deserves to be as beautiful as he is every day. If Matlock had a “Mary Sue,” it would be Billy.
I love how his sister and mother fit into the story. Considering both the mother and sister are police officers, there’s a good chance they’ll show up again occasionally.
The most interesting thing about Billy is that although he worked hard to land a great job at an elite law firm, he seemed uninterested in climbing the corporate ladder.
He seemed very pleased with a job well done and didn’t have any fatal weaknesses in his body. I have to ask any lawyer reading this: Do you think Billy will be a successful lawyer?
Maybe it’s just me, but it always seems like the lawyers who do the best are the dirty ones. Maybe it’s just me, but then again, the Olympia is far from a gentle touch.
Between Olympia and Shea, Matlock has enough boss energy to start another company
Now, there’s a character who’s getting as much attention as Marty. Especially when Olympia’s (Skye P. Marshall) life is about to get as complicated as it seems.
While she was waiting for her divorce to be finalized, she maintained a secret relationship with Elijah. However, Olympia finally came to her senses in this episode and put the brakes on.
She may not realize it yet, but she’s doing herself more favors than she knows. It’s possible that Julian fell in love with her all over again.
He’s been sweet to her since the first episode of Matlock Season 1. That boy was not nice to her.
Hopefully Olympia will believe Shay, as the jury consultant immediately clocked Olympia and Ilia.
If you’ve read the spoilers for Matlock Season 1 Episode 3, you know I want Shae to be a fun nut. I hit the nail on the head.
Shae is a crazy person with aspects of a slightly unhinged person. The character has a fun Aubrey Plaza energy, which is a very welcome combination of vibes.
I mean, how fun is it to watch Shae torture Madeline? This woman is as crafty as a shotgun and stares Marty down every time he enters the room.
As crazy as she may be, she’s absolutely right about Olympia needing Marty to take the case.
Matlock continues to illuminate real-world issues through heartfelt moments
The case in question is a change of pace. The case in the second episode of Matlock Season 1 reflects a specific real-life injustice.
However, Matlock Season 1 Episode 3 tackles an entire issue and movement that has been around for centuries: the abuse of women.
There was a relaxed atmosphere from the beginning of the case. This is partly because the victims are introduced to scenes that have a light-hearted comedic air.
As the plot progresses, the weight and reality of the case not only become all too real, but become the theme of the entire plot.
The best part is how the writers weave a story that incorporates multi-generational perspectives on a topic that affects every woman, regardless of age.
One thing’s for sure: We’ll remember Marty’s Oscar-worthy speech in court.
CBS brass must already be thinking of ways to keep Kathy Bates in Matlock for good
Now let me get this straight, when Kathy Bates’ lip trembled during her closing remarks, I was devastated. Trust me when I say I was an instant mess.
Everything she says is filled with vulnerability and sincerity. I couldn’t look away. Kathy Bates exudes natural power in her bun and pantsuit.
This woman is simply gifted in layers. I’m talking about Kathy and Marty. I know the coffee spill in the Olympia office was intentional. However, I didn’t realize Marty had a fake laptop.
I take back what I said in the spoilers for Matlock Season 1 Episode 2. A grandchild was truly everything Madeline needed. Why are the children still in school? Get him a job at NASA or the CIA.
Interestingly, if eagle-eyed viewers watch High Potential, they may notice one of the jurors in this episode.
Cck Bolado plays one of the jurors that Olympia and her team care about. The actor just appeared as a suspect in High Potential Season 1 Episode 3.
I’ve been following every detail for all you TV fanatics out there. Especially TV fanatics will not fail to watch this incredible series.
If Kathy Bates continues to give one great performance after another, she may never retire. The fans won’t allow it.
The brass at CBS must have been trying to figure out how to keep Casey on for many, many more seasons. I support giving a woman whatever she wants.
Madeline Matlock has another quick thing for you, or do you see a laptop replacement coming soon?
Do you think Maddie will start to change her mind about her mission as she becomes closer to her work team?
