As for the game itself, Sonic is a new campaign that includes Shadow trying to take down the Black Doomsday who has reappeared to rule the world, as well as modern and classic Sonic teaming up to stop Dr. Eggman from splitting the timeline with the Time Eater.

In addition, the game also features retro levels from past Sonic versions that can be played in the new game.
