The police drama starring Nathan Fillion remains one of ABC’s hit series.
The season finale was lackluster and had questionable cliffhangers, but that doesn’t stop the show from being one of the best shows on the internet.
Frankly, we can wait patiently for the writers and company to cook up a great season.
Fortunately, we don’t have to wait as long as we did during last year’s strike, but we have to wait long enough.
We’ll give you more information below!
Has ABC renewed “The Rookie”?
Don’t worry, Rookie Fanatics!
“The Rookie” has been renewed for a seventh season.
The series has become a hit on the network and is undoubtedly one of ABC’s most successful shows.
In fact, the first episode of The Rookie’s sixth season attracted a whopping 11.9 million viewers across all platforms following its long-awaited return after a double whammy.
It’s the series’ best performance since its premiere.
With such a strong vote of confidence, the rookie’s extension is a no-brainer, and we’re cautiously optimistic that it will have similar luck in the future.
How does “The Rookie” season 6 end?
After a relatively disjointed and at times mediocre season, The Rookie had an action-packed season finale.
The series leaves multiple villains waiting to cause harm.
We see the team working together to eventually uncover Monica’s nefarious deeds and involvement in multiple incidents that come to their attention.

She was the one behind the blackmailing of Dr. London, which resulted in the deaths of characters like Mad Dog and another agent, Pierson.
We see Nolan and Harper team up with famous FBI members from Rookie of the Year to save Blair London in Argentina.
Meanwhile, Angela, Tim, Lucy and Tosun are battling some of the effects of Monica’s chaotic mechanization, facing the fire of hell.
At the same time, she also pulled out Gondo and a car chase that included Chenford fighting bad guys in a moving vehicle.
The action is awesome!
It ends with Monica escaping and her accomplice Oscar breaking out of prison with Bailey’s ex-husband Jason.
The latter is determined to track down Bailey and Nolan, who have just chosen to adopt and foster children, and make their lives hell in order to seek revenge.
This season has seen a slew of bad guys, some compelling and then some. Not so much.
When will The Rookie Season 7 premiere? Not when you think about it…
There’s good news and bad news about The Rookie’s release date.
The show will not return to primetime in the fall because of the overwhelming faith the network has in the show.

It’s a big year, with election coverage dominating many essential networks during the fall.
So it’s best not to flood the fall with a ton of shows, lest ratings and viewership take a hit, as well as multiple interruptions.
It and hitmaker Will Trent are scheduled to premiere midseason.
We expect The Rookie to return in January 2025.
While we haven’t confirmed a date and time yet, it’s likely it will resume on Tuesday, September 8th.
How many episodes is there in The Rookie Season 7?
We’ve gotten the “bad news” so now it’s time for the good news!
After a frustrating deleted season, The Rookie will have 18 episodes!
Because the show returns in January instead of the fall, we can expect fewer interruptions, meaning multiple uninterrupted episodes running simultaneously.
By the way, we’re probably going to have eight episodes in a row to kick things off.

Which cast members are returning for Season 7 of “The Rookie”?
As of now, we expect the entire cast of The Rookie Season 7 to return.
Main characters:
-
Nathan Fillion as John Nolan
-
Eric Winter as Tim Bradford
-
Melissa O’Neal as Lucy Chen
-
Richard T. Jones as Wade Gray
-
Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper
-
Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez
-
Sean Ashmore as Wesley Evers
Lisseth Chavez was promoted to series regular last season and we can expect her to return as Celina Juarez.
Meanwhile, Jenna Dewan will also be reprising her role as Bailey Noone, but we expect she will be absent from the first few episodes as she is in the late stages of her pregnancy.
The Rookie Season 7 New Recruits: Who Will Join the Cast?
We kept some of the basics and actually stayed true to the name of the series.
Yes, two new “boots” are coming to Mid-Wilshire, and they both sound like exciting new products.
Derek Augustine will join the cast as Miles.
Miles is a transfer student from Texas who technically spent two years in law enforcement (probably as a ranger) but had to join the force as a rookie.
If we were betting, we’d guess he’d have Bradford as his training officer. That makes the most sense, right?

Augustine is known for his roles in “All American” and “The Godfather of Harlem.”
Meanwhile, Patrick Keleher, a stage actor, will make his TV debut as Seth, a rookie who struggles to make quick, decisive choices on set.
Tru Valentino stars as Aaron Thorsen in The Rookie Season 7
A shocking rookie move before this season was True Valentino’s exit from the series.
Although, if we must be honest, it feels like the series doesn’t have much to do with his character, Thorson is such a great comedic relief and a fan favorite.
His absence will be sorely missed in the series and is just one in a long line of frustrating exits over the years.
When Valentino discussed his departure on Instagram, he expressed gratitude for his time on the show and even hinted that he could return at any time.
I will always cherish my time rookiebut couldn’t be more excited about what the future holds. I loved the friends and relationships I made there. It’s a great opportunity and I feel very lucky to have had the last three seasons. Thanks to the best fans in the world. I know I don’t say much, but I thank you all so much. You never know who might pop up in the Mid-Wil County precinct. Until then, 7 Adam 19, this is Officer Towson, it’s over!
What storylines are there in Season 7 of The Rookie?
With Oscar, Monica and Jason free and harboring a grudge against one or more of the team members, we can expect them to return and pose a threat.
However, showrunner Alex Hawley said Jason is the most immediate threat.
There is very little information about Oscar and Monica and when and how they will return to the series.
But Jason has a more immediate goal to follow Nolan and Bayley, so it’s likely we’ll see this rivalry soon during the season, or revolve around Jenna Dewan’s return from maternity leave.
We can also expect Lucy and Tim to continue their relationship after their split.
Tim’s therapy has made him more enlightened, and we’ll likely continue to see him go down this path.
We may also see him return to his role as a training officer instead of Metro after he faces consequences for his past lies and actions.
Lucy and Harper may be doing more undercover work.
We might also get some interesting content, since Tamara and Selena are officially roommates after she moves out.

Nolan and Bailey face the dangerous prospect of adopting a child while juggling demanding careers.
We’re also hoping to catch up with Angela and Wesley again, since we didn’t spend much time matching up with the pair or finding out their youngest child’s name!
With Luna Gray actively involved in social work, this season may find new ways to include her, which could lead to some interesting things for Sergeant Grey.
The most exciting thing is that along with the rookies, we’re going to get some returning rookies.
New boots mean a lot of laughs and good times as the previous boots act as superiors and pass on their knowledge and maybe some gentle hazing.
As the seasons expand, the show has plenty of room to tackle a variety of interesting and exciting storylines.
Will “The Rookie: The FBI” guest star in “The Rookie” season 7?
While nothing official has been announced, producers have expressed interest in finding more ways to incorporate some of the characters if the storyline demands it and the actors are available.
Will it crossover with 9-1-1?
Now that 9-1-1 is airing on ABC, there are rumors and fans that there will be an epic crossover between The Rookie and 9-1-1, which is certainly an interesting idea.
But it’s unlikely to happen.
However, given that the idea has received traction and been teased on both shows, it might not be completely ruled out.
Is there any trailer for The Rookie Season 7?
We don’t have a full trailer for the next season.
We do, however, have a trailer that looks back at Nolan’s journey from day one of the series to now.
It puts things into perspective and makes us miss the series.
We did get a very brief first look at the rookies in the locker room, getting a summary from their TO Tim.
There was some casual banter between Nolan and Bradford about the new prospect. check it out!
But make sure you bookmark this page as we’ll be updating it as new information becomes available.
As usual, you can stream The Rookie on Hulu.
