A.Chal’s new single “LMKK” topped this week’s New Music Latin poll.
A poll released on Friday (October 25) shows support for the weekly New Music Latin roundup and playlist curated by: advertising billboard latin and spanish advertising billboard Editor – Fans voted the Peruvian-American artist’s new single as their favorite piece of music this week.
Spanglish song “LMKK” received over 89% of the vote, beating out other new album releases this week including Alejandro Sanz’s “Palmeras en el Jardín,” Sech’s comeback song “Toy Perdio,” Carín León and Gabito Ballesteros’ “Ese Vato” No Te Queda” and Latin Mafia’s debut album, all day every dayto name just a few. Earlier this month, Sanz previewed his single during Billboard Latin Music Week 2024, where it debuted at No. 2.
Written and produced by A.Chal himself during a trip to Milan, “LMKK” deftly blends the nostalgic appeal of reggaeton with contemporary alternative R&B, including Zion & Lenox’s iconic “Yo Voy” featuring Daddy Yankee 》. “Yo te tengo is all over my head, you know, I don’t care if you’re mine,” he intones on the elusive and unique song.
“When I looked at the crowd on my last tour, I saw different types of characters coming to see me that wouldn’t normally be in the same room,” he said in a press statement. “They all have their own unique vibe and champion different songs. This inspired me to write songs that all these groups could connect to and move to equally. “LMKK” was a small hint of the direction I was leaning towards.
In a previous New Music Latin poll, fans hailed Greeicy and Jay Wheeler’s collaboration “¿Qué Te Pasó?” as the winner, with the song receiving over 99% of the vote.
