Last year it was reported that David Fincher Looking to develop a US version squid game For Netflix. Deadline is confirming the reports and says this could be Fincher’s next project.
Finch has been developing the project “for the past two years or so.” If this is true, he could be heading into production sooner rather than later, with filming possibly starting in 2025.
No other details have been revealed yet, but it will be interesting to see what Fincher does with the series. He has such a unique storytelling and filmmaking style that there is no doubt that he will deliver a high quality series that is well crafted.
The theme of the series is filled with dark and gritty themes and tones, which is perfect for Fincher and his style. It’s also similar to Fincher’s 1997 thriller gamerevolves around real-life people becoming unknowing participants in a demonic game.
Netflix has a long-standing relationship with Netflix, developing projects for them e.g. house of cards, mind hunteras well as the animated series Love, Death and Robots. He also directed Lack and killer For streaming services.
squid game Season 2 will be released on December 26th. It was also renewed for a third and final season.
