Billy Corgan posted a note from his wife, Chloe, on Wednesday (October 30) regarding an incident that took place at the Smashing Pumpkins singer’s tea shop in suburban Chicago , when a car crashed through the front window. “Important announcement about Mrs. Zuzu! Thank you for your support and understanding,” Kogan wrote in a post on X that included a note from his wife.
“This afternoon, at Mrs. Zuzu’s house, a car (the exact circumstances are still under investigation) drove over the road and hit Mrs. Zuzu’s house. Unfortunately, one person was injured – my mother Jenny; she and my son O Gusto spent the day and lunch together,” wrote Chloe Mendel-Cogan. “Thankfully he was able to jump away and was not injured.”
The couple thanked Highland Park and Deerfield first responders for their help, and Chloe noted that the store will be closed until further notice and that an update will be released soon. Madame Zuzu’s opened at its current location in September 2020, serving a variety of teas and vegan options.
In August, Corgan and his wife announced they were expecting their third child, who will join son Augustus, 8, and daughter Philomena, 5. Mendel Corgan, 31, told people Magazine. “This is an exciting moment for us, albeit unexpected!” Cogan, 57, added: “On Sunday we were with our children Augustus Jupiter and Philomena ·Clementine shared the news. Just as Augustus was ecstatic, the younger of the two, Clementine, asked if the child had been born and shed a few tears of concern. It’s so adorable. Both kids are beaming now and it’s been so much fun sharing the joy of bringing more love to our family.
The Smashing Pumpkins are getting ready to kick off their “The World Is a Vampire” South American tour, which kicks off on Friday (November 1) at Arena BRB in Brasilia, Brazil.
