Sasha Kahler Chosen as superwoman The Flash She has big plans for the future of the DCEU. She’s signed on to multiple movies and has had multiple conversations about her future in the franchise.
But eventually, after James Gunn and Peter Safran After taking over DC Studios and rebooting the DCU, all plans for a future Supergirl were flushed down the toilet. I love Calle as a character, but it’s just too bad that things turned out the way she did.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Kahler said of losing the role: “I loved the character so much. I talked about her future many times. When I signed on, it was for a multi-picture deal.
“That’s a very common thing when you sign for a franchise. So it was very heartbreaking, very confusing for me. At the end of the day, I knew I did my best and whatever the outcome was, it wasn’t…”
Despite the pain of losing the character, Kahler still loved the experience she went through, saying, “I look back on it and it was a very beautiful thing. Some people said there was no way a queer Latina girl like me could be Supergirl. But. I am and no one can take that away from me.
“That’s the most important thing to me; I did something important. Whether you see yourself in me or not, a lot of people really connected with her and loved her.
In Gunn’s new DCU, Supergirl will be Dragon House Star Millie Alcock. She’ll likely make her debut in next year’s Superman movie.
