The long-awaited Hot Boys reunion is finally here.
The iconic rap supergroup consisting of Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Turk and BG performed together on Saturday (November 2) at Wayne’s Lil WeezyAna Fest in New Orleans for the first time in 15 years.
The band’s 22-minute set included “Get Your Roll On,” “I Need a Hot Girl” and “Neighborhood Superstar,” and was joined by Big Tymers’ Mannie Fresh and Birdman. new orleans times-picayune Report. Watch the show here.
This year’s Lil WeezyAna Fest also included solo performances from Juvenile and BG, with the former winning over the house with “Back That Azz Up” and BG delivering “Bling Bling.”
During his solo performance, Lil Wayne once again addressed being snubbed during the Super Bowl halftime show, expressing his disappointment at being ignored by Kendrick Lamar.
“I told myself I wanted to be on that stage in front of my mom, and I fought tooth and nail for that position. It was taken away from me, but right now… they can’t take it away from me, ” the rapper told the crowd at Smoothie King Center.
Wayne previously teased a Hot Boys reunion in September on X (formerly Twitter). Rumors began to spread earlier this year when Juvenile hinted at a performance at Essence Fest in New Orleans and mentioned that the band was working on a new album.
“The Hot Boys are back, man. What are you talking about bringing the Hot Boys back together? Let y’all know y’all can’t keep up—” he said on Instagram Live in May. “Turk will be with me tonight and I’ll be with BG next week. Me, Wayne, Turk and BG, all of us will be on stage in New Orleans with Mannie Fresh and Birdman. We’ve started Making the Hot Boys album. Any other questions? Keep asking for a little patience.
Despite the hype, fans were disappointed as the anticipated Essence Fest reunion didn’t happen. Birdman, Mannie Fresh, Juvenile and BG were all on stage together, while Wayne then chose to perform solo, while Turk was absent.
The Hot Boys’ last album was 2003′ let them burn.
