Kamala Harris makes surprise appearance saturday night live November 2.
With Election Day right around the corner, the Vice President stopped by Studio 8H during the series’ cold open, hosted by comedian John Mulaney.
Harris joins saturday night live Actor Maya Rudolph is known for her spot-on impression of the Democratic presidential candidate in a hilarious opening sketch during the show’s 50th season.
Saturday’s episode began with a parody of CNN, starring Chloe Fineman as anchor Kaitlan Collins, covering former President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) ) and his running mate J.D. Vance (played by Bowen Yang). The scene then cuts to a conversation in Penn involving Rudolph’s Harris, Andy Samberg’s Doug Emhoff, Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Watts and Dana Carvey’s Joe Biden.
Rudolph’s Harris later stepped aside to prepare for her campaign speech, saying, “Well, this is the last leg of the campaign in Pennsylvania. Oh my gosh, I just wish I could talk to someone who’s been in the same boat I’m in.” —A black South Asian woman running for president, preferably from the Bay Area.
Then she sat down and looked in the mirror, and the real Kamala Harris was reflected back in her. “Nice to meet you, Kamala,” the real vice president said. “I’m just here to remind you that you get this because you can do something your opponent can’t: open doors.”
Rudolph let out her signature Kamala laugh and said, “Now Kamala, pick up my palm Allah.” The two then began to complement each other’s sentences: “The American people want to stop the chaos and end it with a very Cool new stepmom to end the drama. Listen, let’s put on our pajamas and watch a Kamala romance like Legally Blonde and start decorating for Christmas, la la la.
Among other highlights from the Nov. 2 episode, Mulaney returns as host for a sixth time, while musical guest Chappell Roan makes his debut, performing “Pink Pony Club” , and premiered a new country song called “The Giver.”
