The Binghamton-based holiday movie “Stationed at Home” is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime.

Filmed exclusively in Binghamton and Johnson City, “Stationed at Home” follows a taxi driver working a graveyard shift on Christmas Eve in 1998, during which he is awaiting a mysterious space sighting. As the hours count down, an offbeat ensemble of misfit passengers derails the driver’s plans.

The independent film, directed by Daniel V. Masciari and produced by Eliza VanCort, was already available through various ad-supported platforms, including Tubi and The Roku Channel, and for rent or purchase on Apple TV and Amazon.

However, as of July 15, the movie has been selected for Amazon Prime Video’s streaming library, according to a July 16 press release, which is “one of the biggest wins an indie film can get.”

“Most independent films never make it this far,” the release states. “Industry estimates put the number of true indies that land a spot on a major streaming platform in the single digits — let alone a curated spot on one of the largest services in the world.”

The release further credits the Binghamton community for a “huge part” in the movie’s success, as local investors supported the film, Binghamton bars were used as filming locations and local residents became extras in the film.

“It’s wonderful to see Binghamton sharing what makes the city and Central New York so very special with the world,” said VanCort in a statement. “So many people in the community played a part in this. That’s good for all of us.”

‘Stationed at Home’ story inspired during drive through Binghamton

Masciari, who studied cinema production and philosophy at Ithaca College, often utilizes ordinary locations in his filmmaking, shooting in and around buses, gas stations, diners and trailer parks.

In 2023, he said the inspiration for the movie came to him while he was driving through Binghamton one night. Key scenes in “Stationed at Home” showcase Binghamton landmarks, including the Memorial Bridge and the Greyhound station.

Filming began in 2023 and wrapped a month later. The movie made its way to the screen in 2025 and has since been making headlines in film festivals around the world. In Feb. 2026, the movie was awarded the Greater Binghamton Chamber’s Tourism Trailblazer Award, according to the press release.

Amazon Prime members can now stream the movie with no rental fee or ads on Amazon Prime Video.
