Rapper and actor Freddie Gibbs has signed with music company AWAL, further expanding the company’s roster of hip-hop and R&B artists.
The news coincides with the unexpected release of his latest album, You only die once, It fell last Friday (November 1).
The new album follows Gibbs’ recent appearance on Kanye Westof vulture project, his first full release since 2022 $oul $old $eperately. The project is executive produced by Gibbs himself, Lambert, Nova Dentonand pop music.
“As we expand our lineup in hip-hop and R&B, it’s refreshing to work with someone as talented as Freddie. Excited for what’s to come,” said AWAL CEO Lonnie Olynyk.

The collaboration was driven in part by Norva Denton, AWAL’s senior vice president and director of urban music, who maintains an existing relationship with Gibbs and his team.
