Well, well, well, it looks like the trio is about to become the duo in Matlock Season 1 Episode 5. Okay?
That’s right, Madeleine and Olympia are quickly becoming “best friends.” At least, that’s the effect going for in the trailer for “Claw.”
Marty may have a conflict of interest as Madeleine Matlock’s plan progresses. How does she defeat Jacobs and Moore when she and Olympia finish each other’s sentences?
We’ve seen how a double life can take a lot of wear and tear on the titular character. Befriending her boss only complicates her plans.
The connection between the court case and Madeleine Matlock’s personal life is as subtle as a shotgun
Madeleine Matlock’s path has been a winding one, with twists and turns around every corner. That may sound like the show’s slogan, but it’s the show’s reality.
Matlock Season 1 Episode 1 introduced the world to a whole new Matlock, with a neat twist at the end. It shows a confident and capable Madeleine Kingston.
However, since then, it has encountered setbacks again and again. Of course, Madeleine has undoubtedly made some progress, but there are lessons at every step.
The story is as much about Madeleine’s quest for justice for her daughter as it is about a grieving mother. Each case the show tells about an aspect of Marty’s life.
The first case involving a former sex worker was apparently a tribute to Marty’s late daughter. Since then, each case has brought light to Madeleine and revealed more layers and sides.
In Matlock Season 1 Episode 4, Marty deals with the fight between her and her husband while working on the case of a widower seeking justice for his late wife. The connection is as subtle as a shotgun.
Each time, Madeleine Matlock/Kingston is reminded that the reason we seek justice is not only to punish the guilty but also to help the helpless. Can Marty really accomplish her plan without strengthening herself in the process?
Marty and Olympia are about to become ‘good friends’, much to Matlock’s dismay
It’s such a shame because Olympia and Madeleine really seem to have developed a genuine connection. Both can be heard saying the same slogan at the same time in the promo. This was both wonderful and terrifying for Matlock.
On the one hand, reaching out to her boss would give Marty plenty of room to expand her plans. Marty, on the other hand, has no need for a conflict of interest.
Then again, the show is going to need something to keep Madeline Matlock in Jacobs and Moore’s company once this big mystery is solved.
As I mentioned in my article about the Matlock twists and turns, the creators said everything will be revealed by the end of Matlock season 1. On Olympia.
Where does Madeleine Matlock find the time to play matchmaker?
The official synopsis for Matlock Season 1, Episode 5 reads: “A massive class action lawsuit against the prison system hits home for Marty, as his lead accuser returns to his old ways after being imprisoned on drug charges.
“Also, Marty plays matchmaker for Sarah and a girl from IT.” What did I just say about the cases related to Marty’s journey? Subtlety is clearly not Matlock’s strong suit as a writer.
The strangest thing from the episode description, however, is the blatant focus on Leah Lewis’ character Sarah. When in doubt, show some love to the most stubborn of characters.
In my review of Matlock Season 1 Episode 4, I asked, “Why do we need to know that Sarah likes girls?” I didn’t understand why this was a relevant detail. I think this is the answer.
Don’t get me wrong – I totally agree with Sarah about relaxing. You’ll notice from the promo that her tightly pulled ponytail is now lovely hair that cascades down the sides of her stunning face.
Sarah was passionate but had a big heart and she didn’t know what to do. It will be fun to watch her interact with her loved ones. The fact that Marty was the one trying to play matchmaker is just chef’s kiss so good.
If seniority is the culprit behind Madeleine Matlock, our favorite septuagenarian is headed for a rocky and edited road
Marty couldn’t help but stir the pot wherever he went, but as we all know, everything in Grandma’s pot was delicious and warm.
However, Madeleine Matlock (Kathy Bates) is more than just a cute old lady figure who does everything she can to stay alive. But Madeleine Kingston was a cunning woman.
The final frame of the promo for the fifth episode of “Matlock” season 1 shows Marty holding what looks like a cell phone screen protector with fingerprints on it.
Your guess is as good as mine as to what or who this might be about. In Matlock Season 1 Episode 5, we learn that Senior is at the top of Marty’s list of suspects.
The fingerprints are likely to come from Jacobs & Moore’s skull, which means Marty is already trying to access high-level files. However, I have a legitimate question for any viewer looking to unravel the mystery.
If Senior is who Marty is looking for, do we really think he left something behind for Madeline to find? Wouldn’t he go to great lengths to cover his tracks?
He demonstrated his genius as a lawyer by manipulating the law through the “Texas Two-Step Rule.” It’s dirty and mean, but also smart and genius.
There are also scenes of employees shredding documents. If Senior (Beau Bridges) covered up a case, Madeleine should have discovered next to nothing.
Even though she ends the promo in a happy mood, it’s likely a throwaway moment because I can’t imagine things getting any easier before they get more complicated.
However, now that Marty’s husband Edwin will be more personally involved in the investigation, Madeleine may not be able to make it down the river without a paddle.
Regardless, Kathy Bates is a brilliant talent and she gives a flawless performance in every episode. Matlock is the gold standard in television, brimming with talent and impeccable storytelling.
