Women often compare themselves to others. It’s part of our nature. We often want what others have—their beauty, their job, or their man.
In Three Women Season 1 Episode 9, this ruins Sloan’s life as the episode explores her perspective as well as Gia and Lily’s.
Sloan is the epitome of an outspoken, fierce woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and go after what she wants, but sometimes, people get hurt.
Sloane’s life drew Gia to write her story
“Sex on Drugs” picks up a few months after the end of Season 1, Episode 7 of “Three Women,” with Gia seemingly frustrated that Sloane hasn’t committed to writing the book yet.
Here’s an observation about the series. Except for Maggie, the other three women all have selfish tendencies and believe that the world revolves around them.
Who calls someone ten times a day? Gia complained when Lena did this to her, but it looked like she was actually stalking Sloane.
Sloan’s life was probably the most interesting. Lena and Maggie’s stories need to be told, but I can see Gia’s editor finding them frustrating.
A woman is raising eyebrows when she chooses to swing with other couples and have an affair.
In this episode, we see Sloan’s softer side, as she befriends Gia in her time of need. After seeing Gia and Lina together so often, it’s refreshing to see her interact with someone more direct.
They connect with each other because they have old mom drama and want to get better.
Gia was scared because she didn’t know if she had lung cancer and whether she would live to see her daughter grow up, but Sloane convinced her more than anyone.
Sloane’s obsession with Will and her mother’s advice lead to trouble
It helps a lot that Sloane’s arc was expanded on in the TV series. It delves into her issues with her mother and why she won’t hand over control to anyone.
This is a big deal in marriages and rocky relationships. Sloan desires to feel cherished, but not possessed or controlled. However, boundaries and rules are necessary so that people don’t get hurt.
Sloane is unprepared for the intensity of her feelings for Will. What shocked her was that while she was fooling around with him, her daughter got into a car accident.
Regardless, Sloan prides herself on being a good mother and doing what her daughter wants, even if it means attending birthday parties with her picky family.
At first, the party goes well, with everyone listing what they like about Sloan, but her mom confuses her. Although Diane is proud of her, she worries about others getting too close to her.
In this atmosphere, Diane believed that it was an insult for white reporters to incite riots and white women to steal black women’s husbands. This can happen in any game if you let it.
It’s also not the right time to listen to Diane talk about Lily’s situation around Richard, because Sloane’s jealousy is reaching dangerous levels.
Four drug addicts ruined Sloane’s life
It seems like everyone else is playing by different rules than Sloan. Sloane seems jealous of Lily’s plans with Richard to decorate Sophie’s room when she returns home from the hospital.
It was innocent, but she was sure she saw a spark, so she planted the seeds in Lily and Richard’s hearts to rock together. That way, she and Will would look innocent if they fooled around in front of them again.
Lily’s idea that they were excited about mushrooms in the first place only heightened the emotion and excitement. I have feelings for her. She wanted Will to love her so badly and he couldn’t reciprocate.
The four of them started having so much fun that the room looked like the Garden of Eden because Lily was taking such good care of the plants. At one point, Richard and Will almost look like they’re flying through the air.
Sloan is one of the sexiest dancers and she and Lily exchange envious glances. I doubt Sloane really wants Lily’s life, but I’m not sure she can let Richard or Sophie go.
These are some explosive but chaotic sex scenes, with Sloane happily kissing Will and Lily and Richard reaching explosive orgasms together. Everything was fine until Richard realized he didn’t have a condom.
Only Will can calm Sloan down, and it’s then that Richard and Lily realize how tense and close their relationship is.
Is Sloan the only one to blame?
While I don’t condone Sloan’s behavior, I have a hard time viewing others as blameless. Sloan was right, and all four agreed to pick mushrooms and play together.
People experience strange things when they trip on mushrooms, so they can attribute it to that.
Richard also knows how seriously Sloan takes the swinging rule, and how she panicked when one of their friends wasn’t wearing a condom in the third episode of Season 1 of 3 Women.
If Lily accidentally became pregnant with Richard’s child, what impact would it have on their marriage?
Most importantly, Will is not blameless. He also longs for a relationship with Sloan, without letting Lily know. He blames Sloane, implying that she ruined his life, which is unfair.
I expect Richard and Lily to feel betrayed, but I think Will will support her. This changed my opinion of him.
Sloane hated feeling alone. All she had ever wanted was to be cherished, but now she was thrown out like trash by two men.
Now that she had nothing to lose, she told Gia the whole story.
Early on, Sloane tells Gia that she wants a happy ending because she despises endings where women don’t win.
Will any of these women find happiness in the season finale of 3 Women? Do they stand up for what they believe in?
We’d love to know what you think, so let us know in the comments.
