If there’s one thing Yellowstone fans can’t get enough of, it’s the intense relationship between Beth and Rip.
I had the excitement of chatting with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser recently, and let me tell you, the excitement in the air was almost palpable.
They are just as engaging off-screen as they are on-screen, and being able to talk to them about the final chapter of the Dutton saga is a real gift.
There’s a lot of secrecy surrounding this season – no spoilers allowed! But when I asked Kelly what “going back to square one” means to the Dutton family, her answer hinted at something big.
“It’s going to be a very cathartic, satisfying ending for the fans. It’s certainly for all the years we’ve played these characters.
“It’s very raw, it’s very intense, it’s very emotional, it’s very dramatic, and we see these characters go through some huge things,” she said, her voice reflecting the weight of the season’s journey.
Cole jumped in to talk about the unique challenges of being on set this season, especially when everyone was in the dark about the upcoming scenes. “Honestly, it’s harder on the staff,” he shared.
“The reality is, seven years later, this team is beyond professional. So as we go through the year, they’re used to it like anything, but it’s not easy for anyone to start with. It’s just a different style of doing things.
“But I think everyone adapted… I’m proud of everyone,” he said of the staff taking this new approach like professionals, keeping the heart and soul of the show intact.
As for Beth and Rip? Their relationship is this A standard of intense passion and unwavering loyalty, fans are eager to see how this connection will develop.
Kelly gave a glimpse of Beth’s vulnerability this season, saying, “This is probably the most vulnerable Beth we’ve ever seen…I’ve never seen her so shaken before.”
Cole also backed her up, adding that Rip “has been a better fit for her this year than ever.” The depth of their connection is about to reach new levels, and I think we’re all in for some unforgettable moments.
As for the future? I have to ask – are there more fireworks? If this chapter closes, will there be more to come for this dynamic duo, breathing more life into one of television’s greatest love stories?
“If people want to see Beth and Rip in middle age,” Kelly mused with a smile, “I’d love to see Beth as a matriarch, sitting on the porch…” But Cole interrupted, laughing. “This isn’t fun, honey.”
Kelly more seriously emphasized the importance of respecting the current status of the story.
“Nothing is confirmed yet,” she shared earnestly. “We just finished the season. Seriously. We just finished filming a month ago. We just need to take a breath. We need to respect how this ends.
It’s obviously not easy for Kelly and Cole to leave, but they’re committed to respecting the story’s natural ending rather than forcing it forward. Still, they’re open to exploring more of Beth and Rip’s journey – if and only if the story is driven by true inspiration.
“If there’s more stories to be told… it has to come from a spark of inspiration and truth, like the birth of Yellowstone,” Kelly explained. He emphasized that it should be “resonant and meaningful… we want it to actually become a reality.” . It would be nice if we did more. “
It’s clear that while they’re ready for Beth and Rip’s current chapter to end, they’re equally excited to see where Taylor Sheridan’s vision takes them next – if he finds the spark to return to the Yellowstone universe .
For Kelly and Cole, we’ll be watching you get things done and watch the paint dry because you two are just so exciting to watch on screen.
This season, fans are in for a heartbreaking, gut-wrenching finale. So grab your popcorn and get ready, because Beth and Rip are about to leave us breathless once again.
