We’ve seen Colt get into some tough situations on Trackers so far, but perhaps never worse than the final minutes of Trackers Season 2 Episode 5.
He was bleeding and didn’t look good. But if there was one person he needed by his side at this moment, it was Emmaline Tres.
We rarely see Colt needing to save, but Emmaline is literally the only one who can.
One of the best things about Tracker has been traveling across the United States, which puts him in new and different environments every week.
Tracker Season 2 Episode 4 finds Colt in the beautiful Napa Valley, surrounded by vineyards and Silicon Valley elite, and this week, he’s deep in the woods of a small Kentucky mining town.
The missing person is a teenager who was taken away while searching for something in the woods.
The case clearly struck a nerve with Velma and Colter, and they were willing to take on the case even though the reward was much lower than before.
I’ve always understood the negativity people sometimes have toward Colter because from the outside, he seems to be in it for the money. But we know who Colter is at his core, and if he doesn’t deliver on his promise, he won’t take a dime.
Sometimes I forget about the money thing until it’s mentioned, and when Velma almost feels sorry for bringing him so little money, I want to scream, of course, Colter will take the case!
But it wasn’t, because without a reward it would never have been on his radar. Frankly, Colt might be the only one who can find Emmaline.
We’re used to seeing Colter in towns he doesn’t want to be in, such is the Kentucky vibe. Similar feelings were felt by the Tres family, who disposed of the run-down dead body on their front porch because Emmaline was believed to have the devil inside her.
Jasper seems like a well-meaning guy, but does he really not know that his sister is also a therapist? Or, at least, share the same interests as their mother?
Yes, she had a place in the woods where she honed her skills, making balms and concoctions and such, but how did random people in town know what she was doing, yet the guy she lived with Seems to really care.
Colter’s jaunts around town make him think less about Emmaline being seen as revenge for Jasper’s role as a mining narco and more about people thinking she’s weird. This strangeness not only frightened her, but also made people do more to her. They made her disappear.
We’ve seen the entire ice cream shop swapped out at this point many times. Colter went to find someone who was friendly enough and willing to help, but ended up with someone who wasn’t willing to help. Colter must then sneak up on the good guy to get the critical information he needs to make significant progress on his case.
PS: What’s the boss lady’s problem? She had a lot of built-up hostility towards a teenage girl. She and the people at Animal Control definitely did the most.
It’s not even clear what Colt will find when he goes to the home of the man who yelled at Emmaline, but it’s never going to be as simple as Colt breaking in there and Emmaline being there .
Discovering that she was a therapist and cured the man’s wife of cancer was certainly not what Colter was expecting, but at this point, what didn’t Colter see?
I did enjoy the cases, which not only allowed Colter to resonate and connect with him over personal elements, often making him think about his family or his past, but they also challenged many of his own worldviews.
He’s a survivalist who sees things in black and white, which not everyone does. He’s open-minded enough not to let that cloud his judgment, but he’s not the type to believe anything easily.
I imagine that if he were a guy who wrote inspirational quotes on his bathroom mirror, one of them would surely say, “Those who stand for nothing will fall for anything.”
Once Colter got the information on the Durrells, it was really just about tracking down Emmaline there. Let Colter travel to the entire drug operation without telling anyone and with zero backup.
The place is packed with eyes and there’s an entire drug lab on site, but Colt can get into the main house without anyone seeing him, which only this show can do.
Once he’s inside, it’s clear what happened: Axel kidnapped Emmaline so she could heal his father. But you can’t just kidnap people, although they explain the Durrells as some off-the-grid family who don’t need to abide by the law like everyone else.
Colter walks into the house and makes his way into the man’s bedroom, which is crazy, but it leads him to Emmaline and their back and forth is really funny because they’re really in a situation when there are armed men throughout the house stagnant state.
On the one hand, poor Emmaline must have felt like she had this amazingly terrifying yet beautiful gift (if you could believe it) and that it would be wrong not to use it if she could help someone. She seemed to have forgotten a little bit that she was kidnapped and forced to do things, but she was still a child and a little stubborn.
Colter, ever the voice of reason, basically just begs her to think about herself because talent or not, she’s not someone that people can use as they see fit.
It wasn’t her responsibility to heal anyone, but in Emmaline’s mind, she had the means to do it and was willing to do so. And she didn’t fully realize how expendable she was to those men.
The healing scene is intense, and it’s clear the brothers’ excitement levels are going south when their father doesn’t jump out of bed and start attending the YMCA when Emmaline puts her hands on him for the second time.
Now, it’s TV magic when Colt shoots Gideon point-blank and the two walk out of the house into the woods without being caught. Colter is good, but not that good.
Considering how outnumbered the two of them were, they should be dead. Then Emmaline injured her leg, which slowed them down even more.
I truly believe there is nothing scarier in the world than an abandoned mall, and this one is about as creepy as they come.
There are so many gems dropped in every episode of “Stalkers,” and perhaps the best line of the episode is when Colt tells Emmaline very simply, “Never let panic take over.”
It’s easier said than done, but Emmaline is a rock star under pressure, and considering the two of them were once again outnumbered, if those guys had been any smarter, they’d probably both have died in that decrepit house. Pennis.
Colter looks like he’s dying from an arrow in his abdomen, feel free to correct me in the comments, but I can’t remember a time when he looked more dangerous than this. At least nothing came to mind.
He was indeed able to free himself from the arrows, but he was losing blood rapidly, and it was a miracle that he found them and was able to use that nifty little fire extinguisher tactic to keep Emmaline in check.
Gideon bandaged himself up and rushed over to let his brothers know that this healing effect was strange, but it makes me guess that none of them were smart enough to realize: Emmaline was incredibly valuable.
The Durrells stole her for selfish purposes, but imagine they took her and her money and used her “power” to do something evil. I shudder to think what might have happened to her.
Emmaline’s quick thinking saves Curt from dying, as he would have died had she left there with the men. Instead, she was able to call 911 and let Colter use whatever healing powers she had.
After that day, did Colter become a healing believer? At least, he had to admit, there wasn’t much explanation besides Emmaline that could help him survive that day.
As the time came to an end, I kept thinking that even if that evil compound was eventually raided by the police, Emmaline would never be safe there.
I hate thinking about her and Jasper having to jump from town to town, but Emmaline always has to watch herself because unfortunately we live in a world where not everyone thinks this power is more than just Something that can be abused.
Keep track of notes
- They still don’t know what to do with Velma, but at least she gets a few minutes to share some of her backstory with us. She and Renee needed their own case or something to get them out of that office.
- They haven’t done much with the Shaw family drama so far in Trackers season 2, but maybe Colt reaching out to Dory was the catalyst for what’s to come soon.
This is an exciting case of the week and I love that Colt really needs someone to save him for a change. We love a little variety!
Let me know what you think about this in the comments so we can discuss it!
