Lupita Nyong’o is the latest A-list star to join Christopher Nolan’s much-hyped and high-profile feature project, sources say The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress was last seen in last summer’s alien invasion thriller A Quiet Place: Day OneJoining a strong Bold casting list that already includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway and Zendaya.
Nolan wrote the script and directed the project, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.
Nolan’s latest has fewer plot or storyline details than usual for the closely guarded filmmaker. Various theoretical, even disparate, details have been floated about the project — period vampire thriller, helicopter action thriller — but insiders insist nothing comes close to what Nolan actually had in mind.
Universal had no comment.
The filmmaker is working on the Syncopy banner with his partner and wife Emma Thomas. Filming is scheduled for the first half of 2025.
The new film reunites Nolan with the studio that produced his drama Oppenheimer and helped him win his first Oscar. He won Best Director and Best Picture as a producer for the film, which grossed a staggering $976 million worldwide.
While Nolan enjoys working with certain actors, Nyong’o is new to his team. The actress is not new to Universal, however. she is a dubbing star wild robotUniversal Pictures’ DreamWorks Animation film’s adaptation of Peter Brown’s novel has proven to be a huge success at the box office, raking in nearly $300 million since its release in September. She also starred in the studio’s Jordan Peele-directed horror film, us.

In September, she released the intimate and joyful podcast, Mind your own businesswhich tells the story of what it means to belong through an African lens.
