Majo Aguilar has been busy over the past few months working on new music, touring, and working on partnerships like Smirnoff ICE, and it’s only going to get busier.
“A new song will be released every month, and by April, the full album will be released,” the singer told Billboard of her next studio album. Mariachi lying down. A cover version of Belanova’s 2003 single “Aún Así Te Vas” was released in late September and became the series’ lead single, but it happens to be the Mariachi Tumbado version. “It’s mariachi music interpreted in a traditional way but with added placed instruments. It’s experimental and I’m really happy with it because I spent months making it sound real and sincere. I’m happy with it. Being able to share something that I absolutely love creating.
In addition to her monthly musical appetizers, Aguilar is currently on the road pursuing two nominations for the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards, a recognition she calls a “huge source of pride.” Her nominations include Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album Mariachi and Tequila (Deluxe) Best Regional Mexican Song “Canción Para Olvidarte”.
“It’s a community of artists, composers, arrangers and engineers who support and care about your project. Honestly, sometimes I don’t even think about it. For me, the nomination itself is “In addition, I was nominated with great artists such as Mariachi Sol de México and mi tío Pepe. [Aguilar] and Alejandro Fernandez. So, if I win, that would be absolutely crazy. But there’s no doubt that for me – and I mean this from the bottom of my heart – it’s a huge award to be nominated, isn’t it?

“For me, this is a very important and special collaboration because I think culture gives us roots. Culture gives us a sense of belonging. Latinos in the world have always longed for our culture and we love to be associated with it. Connection,” Aguilar explains of the three-part film series. “We want to feel like there are a lot of people around us who are also connected to our culture. Food, music and style are key components of culture and show who we are and where we come from. So, I feel like this is a very intimate Activities, I really enjoy doing that.
