Bau: Artist at WarA feature-length Holocaust film starring Emile Hirsch as real-life artist Joseph Bau will be released in theaters early next year.
Director Sean McNamara’s historical drama (Reagan) is scheduled to be released on January 24, 2025, and will be distributed by Showbiz Direct and Republic Pictures. Other cast members include Inbar Lavi, Josh Zuckerman, Brittany Mitchell, Adam Tsekhman, Eugene Eugene Lipinski, Michael Benyaer, Josh Blacker and Yan Tual.
Bau: Artist at Work”This inspiring story centers on Holocaust survivor Bau (Hirsch), who relied on his creativity and intelligence in a concentration camp and whose forgery skills helped many avoid the atrocities of the camps. During the filming of the film, Bhau develops a lasting love with Rebecca (Ravi).

McNamara directed the film from a script by Deborah Smereknik, Ron Bass and Sonia Kieferstein, which was adapted from Bowe’s memoir. McNamara, Smereknik, David Brookwell, Mark Griffith and Michelle P. Griffith serve as producers.
The trailer shows Hirsch doing her best to stay optimistic while surrounded by tragedy. “There are some things they can’t take away from us: laughter, joy, our spirit,” he said, playing Bau in the film.
Bau: Artist at War A film festival success, it was named best film at the Sunscreen Film Festival, Myrtle Beach Film Festival, and Tarzana International Film Festival.
McNamara is known for controlling Reagan, miracle season and soul surfer. Hirsch’s previous works include milk, lone survivor and once upon a time in hollywood.
