Warner Bros. is developing a remake of the 1956 sci-fi classic forbidden planet. The film will be co-created by cartoonists and screenwriters Brian K. Vaughn (The Runaways, Under the Dome, Lost), it will be Emma Watts.
James Cameron There was an attempt to make the film, but it never moved forward due to complicated copyright issues. The World Bank successfully overcame this obstacle and is now moving forward with its project.
The original film was set in the 23rd century. The story follows Commander John J. Adams and the crew of the United Planets starship C-57D as they are sent to the distant planet Altair IV to investigate the disappearance of a previous expedition. story.
When they arrive, they find survivor Dr. Edward Morbius, who lives with his daughter Altera and their advanced robot servant Robbie. Morbius reveals that the remaining members of the expedition were mysteriously killed, after which he discovered the remains of an ancient and highly advanced alien civilization called Krell.
These aliens built a massive underground machine capable of turning ideas into reality, but their civilization was destroyed by the unintended consequences of this technology.
As the crew explores the planet, they encounter a mysterious, unseen force that threatens their lives. It was eventually discovered that this “monster” was a manifestation of Dr. Morbius’s subconscious, amplified by Krell’s machine.
His own repressed desires and fears have become a destructive force, leading to the deaths of previous expedition members.
The original movie is great! But, I love those old science fiction movies from the 50s and 60s. I was excited about the remake when Cameron wanted to do it. Hopefully this new creative team can put together a great story and team to reimagine forbidden planet Life.
