Amazon” – the first-ever impact concert to be held in the rainforest – with the ambitious goal of raising $1 billion and advancing the climate justice agenda. Together we will host a landmark event to mark the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, setting the world on a transformative path towards a more sustainable and just future.
Global Citizen co-founder and CEO Hugh Evans stressed the urgent need for action: “Climate change and extreme poverty are two sides of the same coin. The climate crisis could push 100 million people into poverty in the next five years, And a decade after the Paris Agreement, we don’t see political leaders ambitious enough to stop rising temperatures leading to poverty. The only solution is to act now – and the next 12 months will be crucial to secure new funding and radical change. Policy change is vital and we will work hard to ensure this happens.
Like previous editions, Global Citizen Music Festival: Amazon will feature top global and Brazilian music artists, including indigenous performers. Fans who wish to attend can receive free tickets by taking action to support the Power Our Planet campaign. More details will be announced in the coming months.
