It’s a wonder that Three Wise Men and a Baby is one of the highlights of Hallmark’s 2023 Countdown to Christmas.
If you put Taylor Hines, Paul Campbell and Andrew Walker in a room, magic happens – especially when they’re talking about Hallmark’s upcoming holiday sequel Three Wise Men and a Boy.
Between the laughs and playful banter, it’s clear that the brotherhood is still there, as is their skill at delivering holiday cheer.
We have to ask Andrew the big question: Are the Brenner Brothers really smarter this time? His response was typical Andrew.
“We’re smarter at being stupid,” he joked, before getting a real sense of life as a parent. “You lose track of yourself…your mental health, your partnership with your wife.”
In “Three Wise Men and a Boy,” Andrew plays Luke as he searches for a way through life’s twists and turns.
He was once the young firefighter on the calendar. Now he’s in charge, watching younger, healthier players do what he used to do.
It sounds like Luke is doing some soul-searching — and no doubt made a lot of people laugh along the way.
Speaking of holiday fun, the guys are taking the movie to the high seas, premiering Three Wise Men and a Boy on the Hallmark Christmas Cruise.
Even more fun: as you read this, four of us—Tyler, Paul, Andrew, and I—are cruising together because I was one of the lucky Hallmarkies to get a spot on two inaugural cruises !
Taylor’s excitement was palpable when he talked about the ongoing party atmosphere with Hallmark.
He loves that we all have fun together—the people who make movies, the people who watch them, and even the people like me who cover them. No wonder people want to be a part of it.
It’s true—Hallmark’s infectious Christmas joy is stronger than ever, and this trio knows how to spread it. From bantering with each other in interviews to their deep appreciation for the Hallmark community, their dynamic is something fans love.
We can’t let Paul off the hook without grilling him about writing this sequel.
Is it difficult? “Oh, yeah,” said Paul, who admitted that sequels were difficult. “You don’t want to repeat things and you don’t want the Brenners to go to Vegas,” he deadpanned.
Instead, Paul and co-writer Kimberly Sustad focus on what makes Three Wise Men and a Baby so special: heartfelt moments about love, family, and acceptance.
Paul said it was truly a team effort and revealed how tired he was by the end. Meanwhile, Andrew was impressed by how hard Paul was working.
Andrew said Paul never stopped, rewriting on the fly and giving them pages from the makeup trailer to work with.
By the time the conversation ended, it was clear these men had earned their time on the cruise. While I hope they take it easy on the high seas, they’re clearly doing it for the fans.
Their enthusiasm is contagious, their chemistry is unparalleled, and the holiday cheer is undeniable.
