“We were the lead singer in the band Creed,” Hamm said before Fallon recalled, “and we made a music video together in a Scottish glen.”
A flashback ensues, showing Hamm and Fallon rock frontman Stapp wearing long brown hair and a yellow jacket in the 1999 music video for Creed’s hit song “With Arms Wide Open.” The pair took turns delivering lyrics to a triumphant chorus amid a vast green landscape, embracing each other deeply in the process as they sang: “With open arms in the sun/Welcome to this place, I’ll show you everything”.
Creed recently wrapped up their 40-date reunion tour, their first time on the road together in more than a decade. “I feel my voice is stronger than ever and look forward to sharing the stage with everyone again,” Stapp said in a statement when the show was announced. “The fans have made it clear to us that they feel this should have happened a long time ago. I want to give them what they deserve. I’m ready to take it.
As a group, Creed has created hits including “One,” “Higher,” “My Sacrifice” and, of course, “With Arms Wide Open.” Their second album in 1999, human clayAccording to Luminate, 11.7 million copies have been sold to date.
