Only three episodes into this sitcom so far, and I can already tell Nurse Matt is going to be my new favorite character. He’s like a clingy, annoying puppy that you can’t help but pet. If the pilot is any indication, the show manages its cast well, with each crew member getting dedicated screen time and extremely funny lines.

(Also, I agree with Alex on the horoscope thing; science may not fully support it, but it’s true! Look at Bruce, typical Capricorn – they’re not interested in all that “fake” stuff until They see some truth in it that is completely relevant to them.

The interesting dynamic between the field crew between believers and skeptics seeps into the subplots of Pastor Steve and rightfully distrustful Matt. Not intending to use another dog metaphor, but he does act like a dog with a bone and will stop at nothing to “expose” Pastor Steve, even expressing his displeasure to Joyce, blaming his outburst on his drinking green tea. Matt inherits Dwight Schrute’s (“The Office”) cynicism and drive.

Bruce’s astrological monologue is very representative of that moment when you first start reading your zodiac sign and start questioning everything you thought you knew. “You might be thinking, are Capricorns really tough? But from an evolutionary perspective, babies born in the winter have to be more resilient. I mean he has a point! Okay, and then he goes on to use astrology as An excuse for his romantic indiscretions, so maybe he doesn’t have a point at all.
Refusing to believe all this “bullshit,” Dr. Ron finally took a deep breath, looked up, closed his eyes, and continued operating on his troubled patient. Of course, he claimed it wasn’t a “prayer,” but countered his opinion that there were no atheists in foxholes, a sentiment shared by most medical personnel.
Did I mention Pastor Steve gave Matt the middle finger? Bless Him Father, for He sinned…
