Jim Roppo, president and chief operating officer of Republic, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, announced on Monday (November 18) the appointment of industry veteran Kevin Lipson as its first chief revenue officer.
In his expanded responsibilities, Lipson will be responsible for overseeing revenue strategy across all areas Republic Legion Collective, UMGRecord labels located on the east coast include republic records, mercury records, Def Jam Recordingand island records.
Lipson’s responsibilities include managing a team that handles streaming, e-commerce, data analytics, retail partnerships, game planning, sports marketing, media planning and catalog management.
He will also lead innovative activities to create new opportunities for audience engagement and revenue growth.
Lipson will remain based at Republic Records’ New York headquarters, working closely with the label’s executive team.

Lipson brings 28 years of experience with UMG. His career includes senior management positions at various UMG labels, including Republic Records, Island Records, Def Jam Recordings and Released by Universal Music Group In Los Angeles and New York.
During his time at Republic, Lipson’s team has worked with the following major artists: Post Malone, The Weeknd, Metro Boomin, and Morgan Wallen.
