The screenplay, set in Bermuda, is a holiday drama about healing, forgiveness, self-worth and finding love.

Ms Spence said the screenplay was partly inspired by her own life. ”Writing A Holiday Choice became more than creating a screenplay – it became part of my healing journey,” Ms Spence told Bernews.

“In many ways, it is a love letter to my mom, to hope, and to the belief that even after our darkest seasons, joy can bloom again.

“Winning this competition fills me with so much gratitude. It has given me renewed confidence, fresh motivation, and a deeper assurance that I am walking in the direction God has called me to pursue.”

She said the award came after entering numerous screenwriting competitions over the past year and reaching the quarter-finals and semi-finals on several occasions.

“There were so many moments when I wondered if I was good enough,” she said.

“So many competitions where I came close – but not quite. Quarter-finalist. Semi-finalist. Another ‘almost.’ This time… God said, ‘Winner.’”

Ms Spence said the victory had strengthened her belief that she was on the right path.

“Winning this competition fills me with so much gratitude,” she added.

“It has given me renewed confidence, fresh motivation, and a deeper assurance that I am walking in the direction God has called me to pursue.”
