Carín León, Eladio Carrión, Morat and Kidd Voodoo have joined the 64th annual Viña del Mar International Song Festival, organizers announced late Friday (November 22).
They will join previously announced stars Marc Anthony, Ha*Ashe, Carlos Vives, Miriam Hernandez, Duchi, Sebastián Yatra and Basilos ranks. The event is scheduled to take place from February 23 to 28 in Viña del Mar, Chile.
Viña del Mar Mayor Macarena Ripamonti said in a press release: “We have created a lineup for the whole family that includes international artists in their prime for younger audiences and older ones for older audiences. Offering performances by classic and historical performers, each night is a magnet, allowing those who attend Quinta Vergara, as well as the millions who watch the festival on television, to enjoy a modern event, We’ll be announcing the latest technology and innovative content in the coming weeks.
Carín León, originally from Hermosillo, Sonora, is one of the biggest promoters of the global rise of Mexican local music. He began his musical journey as a teenager and rose to prominence after his solo debut in 2018, Dawn with everything and everyone. With his latest offering, Boca Chueca, Volume 1which debuted on the Top Latin Albums Chart and the Mexican Regional Albums Chart at No. 8 and No. 5 respectively.
Colombian band Morat recently completed their Morat: Los Estadios tour, which played in 25 stadiums in different countries, ending on December 13 at the GNP Seguros Stadium in Mexico City. Members Juan Pablo Isaza, Martín Vargas, Simón Vargas and Juan Pablo Villamil gained recognition for his pop-rock sensibility in hits such as “No Se Va,” “Salir Con Vida” and “Besos en Guerra.”
Puerto Rican Latin trap star Eladio Carrión had his breakthrough in 2018 with hits like “Me Usaste” and “Si Tú Te Vas.” Earlier this year, he gave up sol mariadedicated to his mother, which saw him expand his genre diversity with a hard-hitting trap EP because i can. Known as the largest Latin music festival in the world, Viña del Mar brings together famous stars, emerging talents and local performers over six days to compete for the “Gaviotas” Awards (Silver, Gold and Platinum), judged by a jury and influenced by audience feedback.
Since its inception in 1960, the festival has been held at the Quinta Vergara amphitheater, located on the central coast of the Valparaíso region, with a capacity of 15,000 people.
