Josh Brolin is promoting his new memoir, from under the truckhe is revealing some interesting stories from his past.
he appeared in Learn more about Graham Bensinger podcast, he talks about a tense moment on the set of Ridley Scott’s 2007 film, american gangsterin which he plays Detective Trubo, opposite Denzel WashingtonHarlem drug lord Frank Lucas.
“Yeah, we almost got into a fight,” Brolin revealed, noting that he spent much of the american gangster The scenery is spent on the performance Russell Crowe. Considering the Oscar winner plays a ruthless gangster, his rare moments opposite Washington are tense. He explained:
“Denzel came in too late, and there was a lot going on. And then he showed me the lines… He didn’t change any of my lines, but he changed the structure of it. He said, ‘I think I’m going to do this Put it here, put that there. ”
“But he wasn’t really looking at me. I tried to memorize the structure, and then we rehearsed. There weren’t that many lines, most of them were mine. I was supposed to be super confident. I’m Denzel Washington, man. This It’s not easy – you’re just some actor they’re trying to see if he’s real. I forgot my lines.
Brolin asked Washington what his line was, but he put his hand on Washington’s shoulder.
“Then he opened my hand and he said, ‘Don’t ever put your fucking hand on me,'” Brolin recalled. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m breaking up with Denzel Washington.
“This is crazy.” We’re not actors anymore – at least in my mind. In his mind, he was just doing his job. He is that person. He’s Frank Lucas, period. But I don’t know. And then we lived through that moment.
“I said, ‘Are you okay?’ He said, ‘Yeah. You?’ I said, ‘Yeah. Can I get on the phone?’ He said, ‘Just do it. “It’s like he’s said what he needs to say.
Brolin emphasized that the two actors “get along really well now” and that this was nothing more than an intense scene moment. But it must have been a crazy feeling! I bet it’s crazy to work with actors who work in character or do method acting because you expect a person outside of the scene, but you only get the person they’re playing. It’s an awkward moment, but it’s also a really good story!
