Charlize Theron is joining the Nolan universe.
The Oscar winner is the latest A-list star to join Christopher Nolan’s new film. Matt Damon, Shandaya, Tom Holland, Rob Pattinson, Lupita Nyong-Oh and Anne Hathaway will all perform. Universal Pictures had no comment on the casting.
Nolan wrote the script and directed the project, which will be distributed by Universal Pictures. The studio has set a release date of July 17, 2026.
Plot details are still being kept under wraps. Nolan produces the Syncopy banner with producer and wife Emma Thomas.
Sources say Damon, Holland, Hathaway and Pattinson are the core stars of the film, with Nyong’o and Zendaya in supporting roles.
The new film reunites Nolan with the studio that produced his drama OppenheimerIt grossed $976 million at the global box office and won the Academy Award for Best Picture. Oppenheimer This is the filmmaker’s first time working with Universal Pictures, a relationship that followed Nolan’s public split from his hometown studio Warner Bros. in late 2020. Oppenheimer Sources revealed that the new project was picked up by Universal Pictures at a public auction and ended up going directly to the studio.
Theron, repped by CAA and Hanson Jacobson, was last seen in theaters Quick Will next be seen in Netflix’s sequel old guard.
