As Maria grapples with the recent threats to her children, she attempts to refocus on her family but finds herself unable to escape the need to find answers about her father. Her struggle is evident when she attempts to contact Sharif, who confesses to murdering Father Brown. Her desperation drives her to bribe just to get a message across to him, underscoring her growing sense of helplessness and urgency.
Flashbacks to 2003 reveal Abby’s rebellious side as she defies her father’s strict orders and sneaks out to attend a party. This rebellious streak ultimately led to her tragic death, a pivotal moment that haunts the Garland family and drives the present-day narrative.
