If there was no foolproof way out, would you consider going undercover in prison?
Well, that’s exactly what Robin and Mel do when they search for a missing prisoner.
Needless to say, things get a bit dangerous under the hood, putting them all in danger. shock!
The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 6 was action-packed and it was a nice change of pace. What else can you expect when Robin and Mel take up an opportunity like this?
It was a suspenseful hour as they fulfilled their roles – Robin as the prisoner and Mel as the guard. If I ever find myself in this situation, put me in linebacker!
After The Equalizer Season 5 Episode 5, in which Robin and Mel play glorified nanny to a defiant stand-up comedian, I really needed to be immersed in a compelling story.
“Fighting for Life” fits the bill when it meets a worried brother whose sister Jenna is about to be released from prison. He became suspicious when she didn’t show up at the prison gates.
Unsurprisingly, Harry used his hacking skills to confirm that Jenna had not left, despite the prison noting that she had been released. What’s truly horrifying is that this isn’t the first time a prison has released a family member only to never see them again.
Marcus brought in Robin, because why wouldn’t he? Robin didn’t waste any time asking questions or making enemies.
Marcus says this is a dangerous idea, and he’s right, making it clear that he may not be able to save her if things go south. These ominous words foreshadow things to come.
We never worried about Robin, though. Even though she was brutally beaten, I never thought she was in any real danger. It never occurred to me that Maku wouldn’t find a way to get her out if necessary.
Still, getting Mel involved was a bold move. Given Harry’s injured arm, the team likely had no choice, but Mel wasn’t trained for such a thing.
It’s hard to believe that Mel has been on the road to recovery without relapsing, and this episode proves that she’s not 100% healed yet.
Going undercover in jail with no easy way out seems like a bad idea for anyone, especially someone who is still struggling with their mental health.
Fortunately, Mel’s moments of panic and anxiety are short-lived and not as bad as what we saw earlier in the season.
After being locked out, Robin left the team out. Really, how easy is it to keep people informed in this situation? The shift leaves Harry working with Mel and stressing out for Robin.
We rarely see Robin go off on her own and neglect the team, but what she stumbles upon is unexpected. Not only does she find Jenna, but she also finds many other things within reach.
The ending is a horrific statement about the reality of prison life. There are not enough rules. If anything, you would never imagine there would be a fight club in prison where everyone would have a chance to make money.
The Equalizer never changed its format, but it still managed to create very interesting cases, one of the most exciting we’ve seen this season.
Robin’s ex Miles also shows up. In season five, he’s visiting the McCalls more than ever, as he’s invested in helping Delilah with her college essay and meeting her new boyfriend, Cam.
Apparently, seeing Robin was also a priority for him.
Miles has been trying to get Robin back. The last time we saw the two, Robin canceled plans with Miles to help Marcus, who was overwhelmed by news of his father’s declining health.
As we anxiously await what happens between Robin and Marcus, adding Miles to the storyline makes things even more intense. Is Miles just a speed bump in this story, or will he help put the brakes on Robin’s relationship with Marcus?
Nothing much happened except for Miles stopping by and Marcus meeting Robin for a few minutes amid his busy schedule. Still, it’s concerning.
Is anyone else impatient with Robin and Marcus or Robin and Miles? Even Harry didn’t understand why Robin and Marcus didn’t step on the gas.
Harry’s speech to Marcus was very necessary. It would be one thing to see Robin try to rekindle her romance with Miles, or spend more time instead having a cup of coffee with Marcus.
But nothing happens with this love triangle, so it becomes stale and monotonous.
I’m sure Marcus will say something when he sees Robin and Miles meeting at the end of her case, but we don’t get anything other than a sad look – duh!
Elsewhere, Aunt Viola is back to her fierce self after a health scare.
Seeing her huddled in her seat like a wallflower after her last meeting brought a much-needed sense of levity to the episode.
As usual, Aunt Viola is back performing her civic duties involving the police department and the community.
Watching Aunt Viola feel shy about her crush on the captain is hilarious. It was even better watching her hit him in self-defense class.
The last time the two met, Aunt Viola had no time to leave the meeting. Now she has a date with her crush.
If Aunt Viola and the Captain can get together, why can’t Robin decide?
It should be interesting to see how the series maneuvers their possible romantic relationship, given Cap’s comments about the Balance vigilantes that he disapproves of.
Many of Aunt Wei’s storylines are short and sweet. I wish this storyline were different and her character got the expansion she deserves.
Delilah finally decides to move forward with her decision to go to college and her relationship with Cam. I guess that’s the thing, right?
Does anyone else want us to see Robin and Cam share the screen? Robin seems to be a harder sell than Miles. I donβt understand why Delilah is nervous about Miles meeting him.
So, what do you think? If the stumbling love story isn’t exciting, will the action be exciting? Hit the comments and share your thoughts!
