Marcus Loges has been named the new head of production at famed German location studio Studio Babelsberg, the studio was unveiled on Wednesday. On January 1, he will succeed Henning Molfenter, who has been responsible for production operations at Babelsberg for the past 20 years.
Loges has worked on several feature films filmed at Babbelsburg, including the sci-fi epic Cloud Atlasco-directed by the Wachowski brothers and German director Tom Tykwer, and aired on Netflix queen’s strategy. He has worked on several Wachowskis-produced projects filmed in Germany, including serving as a producer on the Wachowskis’ Netflix show Sense8 and served as production manager for James McTeigue’s V for Vendetta and ninja assassin.
Most recently, Loges served as a producer on the hit German series Babylon Berlincreated by Tykwer, Henk Handlogten and Achim von Boris.

Loges’ appointment follows the appointment of Jörg Bachmaier as new studio executive last month. This corporate restructuring follows the sale of the studio to US investment group TPG Real Estate in 2022.
Loges will work closely with Babelsberg CEO Jörg Bachmaier and the studio’s board of directors, particularly Eike Wolf, director of studio operations and marketing.
Bachmeier thanked Molfont for his years of service to the studio. The veteran producer has been a film and TV production executive on location in Germany since 2004 and was a key figure in reviving the studio by luring big-budget Hollywood films to shoot there.
