Flavor Flav didn’t have a great time at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Wednesday night (December 4). The legendary Public Enemy hypeman attended the annual holiday tradition and, in a since-deleted tweet, said he was inexplicably kicked out of the Backstreet Boys locker room by NBC security.
“I thought it was weird…I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonight and I was escorted to meet my kids…the Backstreet Boys…we were backstage in their dressing room…security came up to me and said @ nbc does not want me in this area and I need to leave,” he wrote.
Things got even weirder after that, the 65-year-old rapper said. “Meanwhile, their social media lady shows up and demands to capture social content,” he wrote. “What did I do to NBC or anybody?? All I did was try to spread joy and love, and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.
The latter comment was especially notable given Flav’s ubiquitous presence at this summer’s Paris Olympics, televised by NBC. The network gave the sportscaster significant air time and reported on his pledge of cash and gifts to the U.S. women’s water polo team, as well as his collection of donations for discus thrower Veronica Fraley. An NBC spokesperson had not returned as of press time advertising billboardrequest for comment, but BSB does not appear to have commented on the alleged incident.
