The Art of Storytelling has released an interesting video about how the Earth affects the Earth Star Wars universe.
The film points out how the Milky Way galaxy is artificially connected to Earth’s galaxy, how the characters are actually human (despite depictions otherwise), and how aspects of the real world seep into the series.
Explanation: “Many objected to the high-pressure messaging in the new Star Wars titles, which sometimes felt overtly political. The proximity to contemporary American life went some way to dismantling the sense of remoteness necessary for myth and fantasy.
It also acknowledged that many fans “have responded positively to Star Wars productions that are more grounded in realism and deal with the morally ambiguous real world, as well as issues of corruption, bureaucracy, political dissent and class struggle.” “
Andor is then used as an example of how it is based more on reality than fantasy. “It’s only indirectly related to the mythology of the Skywalker Saga and doesn’t directly involve destiny or lineage, Jedi. Sith, the Force or anything supernatural.
“A large portion of the story takes place in a prison and feels more like a plausible dystopian future than an epic space opera, which to me is at least a proof of concept that audiences can tolerate the Star Wars universe. More grounded than before.
